I don't think that the current, free-for-all immigration situation we have is the result of an intelligent debate which has honestly weighed the pros and cons of such a scheme. Instead, I think it is the result of a gross abuse of power by our federal government which has unilaterally decided that it does not want to stop the problem. We can theorize as to why, including raw desire for political power, or anti-white racism and desire to dilute the power of the historical white demographic.

Immigrants tend to be higher-educated, risk-taking entrepreneurs. They tend to pay more in taxes than they take out in benefits. They tend to be true believers in the American Dream that hard work pays off. They know that a criminal record could get them booted from the country, so they’re better-behaved. If making good citizens were a game, immigrants are like a cheat code.

America was founded on immigration. If we ever shut ourselves off from immigration, we’ll lose a part of our national heritage.

Why don’t they strengthen their *own* country? Well, actually, they do. But they’d rather build a life here, because America is great.

You're spot on with highly-educated, legal immigrants. This country is not anti-immigrant rather, it is anti-illegal immigrant. Every country is well within their right to be selective in whom they admit into their country and the US should not be an exception. This should not be a partisan issue rather, it fairly common sense. It is the hyperbolic, polarizing, and moronic rhetoric from both sides of the aisle that do not allow for nuance in these matters.

Because, more often than not, their country (or it’s citizens) is so piece of shitty that the only option to thrive is to follow “the American dream.” Yes, you guys believe in the good ol’ “American Dream” don’t you?
