He was talking to the very same people he would be talking to once officially hired. There was nothing there...or as Comey likes to say "it was all a nothing-burger". It had no effect on the investigation, no further indictments as a result, nothing. He simply f**ked up while being questioned about an email, one that he retracted in the very same conversation, leading the FBI agents that questioned him to determine that it was not a lie, but an error in recalling the details of an old email...which he had no access to at the time of the question, but the FBI did. He set the record straight during the interview, but the agents were overruled cause Mueller wanted to use that as a means of getting him to turn on Trump in order to protect his family. He pled guilty just to stop the process, something anyone who couldn't afford the legal fees to continue, would have done as well. He was simply talking to a legitimate contact prior to inauguration day...trying to get an admin up and running. If it hadn't been for the whole fake investigation, no one would have even given a shit.
