You can't hold democrats responsible. That would require their ability to admit that they're mindless sheep that would blindly follow their feckless party into a burning building. They truly believe that Biden is a better president than Trump because he doesn't hurt their feelings.

who raised the prices in the other countries? biden?
[deleted]

conservatives truly believe markets don't raise prices, but think presidents do.

Who was right? It's 98.something survivable when media outlets were saying it was going to kill everyone.

1918 pandemic killed 50 million without a vax, 650,000 in the US over 3 years.

Covid19 killed 5 million WITH a vax and modern containment, 680,000 in the US in less than 2 years.

Most of those deaths happened in 2020 without the vax. The rest are happening because conservative antivaxxers are trying to stand with trump over his "stolen" election.

is the globe populated to the same level as 1918 or are there billions and billions more of us?
[deleted]

95% of all covid deaths today are unvaxxed DESPITE having a solution. :)

The US Population was only 105-110 Million people in 1918. Now a days is roughly 340 Million - or roughly 3 times greater. Which means that people are literally closer in proximity to one another - because it's not like we made any new continental land.

Looking at Raw Numbers and population density - the 1918 pandemic kill 1/2 of 1 percent of the US Population.

Using the same metrics - the COVID 19 Pandemic has killed 1/6 of 1 percent. Also you're wrong about death count. It's been way more in 2021.

If you're going to be a communist - at least provide proper data while doing it.

51% vs 49%. wow, a slight error on my part.

But your data proves my point, that even with the vax available, conservatives are still rejecting it. and dying for vaccine freedumb!

more votes for biden :)

No media outlet said everyone would die. I think the highest rate ever reported was 3.5%

You really didn't see any of the early reporting before people started getting sick did you?
0 ups, 3y
Yes, by accident. My wifes side of the family are a lot of nurses and the like. I laughed at them when they started pointing out early reporting and were getting concerned. But if you want to point me to something I missed?

Really explain in September of 2001 how gas prices soared - because everyone panicked. Went from $1.59/gallon way up to $4.15 here locally. George Bush got on the television for a Presidential Address to the nation - stated the government would come down on businesses gouging the American people in a time of crisis. Suddenly gas went down to $.99/gallon.

Explain that isn't how the President lowered prices. If the President can lower prices - the President can also make policies that raise them.
[deleted]
2 ups, 3y
really? so why did prices go to $4 in 2007?

wasn't bush the president then?

so if the president can set an energy policy, can that policy effect the price of energy? since a lot of it is also speculative, can his comments about energy policy make prices move? so when he says we're not gonna drill or we're not gonna pipeline, can that do something to cost?

Absolutely it can, and it does- sometimes the markets react immediately. People and companies that invest their money will always react to that which will hurt them financially. And when you add things like higher taxes, and absurd regulations to the mix, the price HAS to go up, or as we saw under Trump, when you do the opposite, the price inevitably goes down.

Thays right, how can he be lowing food prices, when he is too busy running around the country and raising gas prices? The president cant do both!!! Gee.

I guess you dont really look at all of the components of the economy, do you? You treat this like it is a silo, it isnt. Are you still with me?
Let's just look at what has happened to the supply chain...of let's just say meat.

Covid, processing stopped, or became limited.
Shipping product, lumber for crates was halted from processing at same time, driving demand for lumber up, and further delaying shipping.
Fuel shortage due to hacks. Fuel shortage due to cold weather. Crude processing into fuel halts for hurricanes in LA.
Trucking shortages.
Pent up customer demand for meat.
Low market supply.
Perfect free market storm of SUPPLY AND DEMAND!!

Please remember, the more strain we put on the market, the higher inflation will go.

Wow, I had never considered that! I wonder why?

How pathetic it must be to think that a party would go to such far lengths, WHEN THEY DONT HAVE TO! Why would China take the fall for them?

They dont need a pandemic to wreck the economy if that is truly what they were attempting.

You were so close to getting the right answer. Sad.

Fuel. Gas. Oil. Fossil Fuels. Call it what you will, but when the Biden on day one cut U.S. domestic production by 20% (that's 1/5th, I know, math is racist) then that's lowering the supply, which raises the prices.

Since the production and transport to market of literally EVERYTHING is still dependent upon fossil fuels there's a domino effect. The increased price of fuel gets passed on from the producer to the wholesaler to the retailer to the consumer.
