You're wrong again, even if you used an exclamation at the end of the sentence, the comment was a question. Ergo, it would be "Why? Because they're educated!", or "Why, because they're educated?!". However, the op was implying that the first comment was from a conservative and the second from a liberal, making the first way of punctuation invalid.
And to your second argument of it being colloquial, it would've still had a question mark either after "Why", or "educated".
