Let's judge the people responsible for releasing him harshly. I'd be willing to bet they are white as a sheet.

And his victims were no doubt counted as "covid related" deaths.

And yet, from 1999-2012, when New Jersey (where this alleged murder happened) decreased their prison population by 26 percent, violent crime fell 30 percent.

If only the "feral thug" were never imprisoned, and rather offered the opportunity for rehabilitation and restoration, then maybe lives could have been saved. But prisons don't make us safer.

If you did any research on the story, you would know he was set for release soon anyway. An key feature of our prison system is that an overwhelming majority return over the course of about a decade. Obviously our prison system is a failure, and do not make us safer in the long run. Building up social and supportive resources and allowing for restorative and transformative justice repairs communities, rights wrongs, is less costly and keeps us safer.

I would prefer if a race wasn't committing crimes that classifies them as "thugs".

I'm sure that if a mental health professional were to do a word association and said to you "thug" your response would be something racial. Therefore, perhaps the problem isn't with the word but with the way that SOME perceive it.
