Even our leftists can't deny the truth of that statement . . . and so they collectively will just ignore reality. That is -- after all -- pretty much HOW one becomes a leftist in the first place.

Absolutely true. Let’s see the idiots try and defend that move.

In a way... it is about health as well as our economy. Many of the migrants are unvaccinated... so here's the breakdown.

WH says we may have to lock down again if vaccination numbers don't improve > Hundreds of thousands of unvaccinated people are getting in through the southern border effectively offsetting/negating/overwhelming slight increases in vaccinations > Vaccine numbers do not improve and mutations/variants begin to spike giving politicians the ability to put America back on lock down > Our economy tanks.

On the plus side, at least there will be more food available for when we all resort to cannibalism.

There are more unvaccinated in the US than unvaccinated coming in. 160 million people are unvaccinated in the US.

If all the immigrants coming in are unvaccinated, that number is only 2 million.

That’s like complaining about people throwing matches at a burning house while almost half of the people who are still in the house refusing to grab a cup of water and actually put the fire out.

That wasn't what I was saying. Read my comment again.

I wasn't comparing numbers of unvaccinated citizens to immigrants. I was saying that, with tens of thousands of new immigrants coming in weekly - many of whom are not vaccinated - it will be difficult to increase our vaccinations numbers.

Ex: If 5000 new Americans get vaccinated and 2000 people get ushered in through our border, that's a net vaccination increase of 3000. If an equal amount come in, it's a wash. If more people come in than get vaccinated, that's our vaccination rates declining.

I'm not actually arguing about the immigration one way or another... though I DO strongly believe that they all need to go about it the legal way... like my parents and my wife's parents did. I'm merely pointing out the numbers of it all. When our politicians start threatening additional lockdowns due to vaccination rates - which would be the final nail in our economy - and simultaneously throw a party every month 100k+ new immigrants illegally cross into our country... I begin to suspect that this isn't apathy or incompetence. At a certain point, it begins to resemble malice.

"I wasn't comparing numbers of unvaccinated citizens to immigrants."

Yes, but I was. Rending your argument moot if "tens of thousands of new immigrants coming in weekly - many of whom are not vaccinated - it will be difficult to increase our vaccinations numbers" between the hundred million citizens not vaccinated.

Your grasp of math is disturbing. If 5000 new Americans get vaccinated, that's a net increase of 5000... It matters not how many people are ushered in through the border and added to that group. The new amount of vaccinated people doesn't suddenly decrease unless you're presenting percentages, which you did not. Perhaps you intended to, tho otherwise your analogy is very flawed. The only net increase is to the overall population, presented numbers don't change based on totals.

I'm not arguing immigration either. Not sure why you felt the need to virtue signal what manner of method immigrants enter the US. It has nothing to do with the conversation.

The 5000 was merely a nice round(ish) number that I picked from thin air. I just used it to attempt to illustrate the point I was attempting to make. The influx would affect numbers by either offsetting them, negating them or completely undoing any progress made. This, as you pointed out, would affect percentages. And, yes indeed, we are including those immigrants who are currently in custody (i.e., being held and processed) in our overall vaccination numbers. Both in overall (raw) numbers and approximate percentages.

I'm not entirely sure how to get that point across any better but I hope I succeeded.

The method by which immigrants enter the US is vitally important actually. As America is a Constitutional Republic... we're a nation of laws. To enter illegally displays a basic misunderstanding of what America is. Not sure how pointing that out is a virtue signal though.

You’d want to use percentages then. Try that next time. Overall, we’re averaging about 150 thousand immigrants a month. This is a relatively small offset next to the 150 million who remain unvaccinated. They effect the overall percentage by about .1% a month or 1.2% the whole year.

True enough and fair enough.

I was thinking about the relatively miniscule amount of people who are currently unvaccinated that would likely get a vaccination... if not forced to in some way. I believe, at this point and not accounting for children or those who can't get the vaccination due to health conditions, that those who are unvaccinated are unvaccinated by choice. What is the overall number one could expect from those folks to get vaccinated? 10k/month? 50k? 100k maybe?

There are hundreds of thousands of illegals being allowed through our border, unchecked... That we know about. They are coming from a third world country. They are spreading the virus a lot more and faster than those Americans not wearing masks.

That's all the explanation you get.

Don't immigrants get vaccinated for free?
[deleted]
2 ups, 3y
They're being let through without any background checks. Drug runners, sex traffickers, and gang bangers are being allowed to enter and we don't know if they have covid or not. And the chances of third world, dirty people having covid or other third world diseases, is high.
0 ups, 3y
It depends but generally, no. Furthermore, they are not even tested until they are loaded up and shipped off to holding facilities... across many southern states like LA, AL, GA and the like... and even some mid-western states.

The most depressing part is that texting/vaccinating everyone coming through isn't even CPB's oversight or failing. They are not capable of handling such a large influx of humanity... not even the fraction that they are able to interdict... to say nothing of whatever percentage is getting through or dying along the way. But all of this was known from the beginning... and why repealing Trump's border policy was not only a mistake but pure, unbridled idiocy... perhaps even malice. Even with Kamala and Biden actually coming out and telling immigrants "Do not come", their actions are speaking many times louder than their words to those that view this as their chance to game the system.

And you are monitoring and making sure they get the vaccine? Keep at it, make sure that not one gets in with the virus. Gonna hold you responsible.

The virus is already here, goober.

No that is not the president's job. You sure have the wrong expectations from the commander and chief. Specially when the president has dementia, how can you trust him with that?!

I don't trust him with anything. And I have zero expectations for anybody.

Hundreds of thousands isn’t going to matter with one-hundred million people here already that aren’t vaccinated.

As always, your logic is flawed.

So just make it worse by letting people who don't belong here, in? You want to talk about logic?

I'm sorry, I was only commenting on your premise that letting in more unvaccinated people would lead to more cases. Not that it won't make things worse in other areas. Nice straw man, tho.

Same argument applies. And no, I said nothing about unvaccinated people. I said we're letting people who don't belong here in without checking them for covid, among other third world diseases.

They don't belong here. And we're making it worse.
0 ups, 3y,

Yes, we are making it worse. Mostly by many of us refusing to vaccinate.

but 50% coverage for a 75% vaccine should be enough. . . right? I wouldn't know, I'm not a genius like you haha
0 ups, 3y
75% vaccine? But no, we're no where near the numbers we need to be. Don't kid yourself.
