Well, if you care to watch the doc, they didn't start out as murderous thugs, they created a world from a world they were denied, watts riots etc were all caused by the disenfranchisement of the youth, now that is all they know, its not right, generations have died and hope is lost. It all had to start somewhere, it is up to you to see and understand and maybe learn about it. We inhertited through systemic racism, it's up to us and future generations to recognize that it all had to start from somewhere. I'm not saying compton was the start, that would be catagorically wrong, but that is the basis of crt, understanding why things, people and society is the way it is. Yay, you had one black president and one mixed race vice president, don't act like y'all did a f**king favour for that to happen, society still has problems, recognizing and working towards a more inclusive future will help future societies. Also crt is not just in regards to black people, what is going on with the native boarding/residential schools and unmarked graves with thousands of lost children is also as important and widespread that history forgot and in denial of recognition. I had oppurtunities in the 70s and 80s as a child of a single mother because I'm white, I'm not ashamed but I do recognize during my unfortunate upbringing, several other children never had the same oppertunities I had, that is empathy. I'm lucky enough to live a life without childhood trauma of being disregarded or less than human, but the person next to me downtown at the grocery store may have.
