Trump sad so sad | image tagged in trump sad so sad | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
The Taliban are terrible people. Them taking over is very sad.

But it ain’t our problem anymore. The Afghan government had 20 years to get their army and their shit together. We should have declared victory and come home after the raid on OBL. Instead, we stayed another 10 years for God knows why.

If the Afghan gov’t is still so flagrantly corrupt and incompetent that they lose to a bunch of shepherds and many Afghans would *still* prefer the Taliban over them, well.

Sad!

Agreed. Already the longest war in US history. Why piss away money there when it's needed elsewhere?

Obama Nation-building at home | image tagged in obama nation-building at home | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
“Nation building at home,” right?

Well. Obama said some nice words about it after the OBL raid, but he didn’t get us out. Trump didn’t either, though he did leave Biden with a withdrawal plan which Biden to his credit is carrying through.

Democrats and Republicans alike both found ways to support the Afghan War year after year, as the reasons for being there continued to evaporate. The only losers were our vets.

A stark reminder bipartisanship doesn’t always produce good policy.

Dems and repubs are both beholden to the military industrial complex. This is why Tulsi was basically blacklisted by every MSM besides Fox and got zero support, because she's an anti interventionalist. The 1st and ONLY time Trump got bipartisan support in the media was when he struck at the Russian base in Syria. That's why I can't blame Obama for naively thinking he could shut down Gitmo. Trump, to his credit, didn't start any wars, but he wasn't doing much to withdraw, which he said he would, but my criticism waned a bit after it was revealed his own generals were lying to him about the troop count in Syria. That bs shouldn't happen regardless of who the prez is.

You just said "Trump ... struck at the Russian base in Syria."
That's Obama's line in the sand that he was criticized for not crossing himself yet Trump was praised (as you mentioned) for doing?
Not to forget taking credit for routing ISIL in Iraq,
Yemen,
NK was stopped by the power of love between 2 men,
And starting a really short one with Iran then tried to restart it late last year.

Then again, the US has started only TWO wars since WWII, under W Bush, so yeah, never mind.

It has something to do with when we declared victory in Iraq, everything started up again

If I had to guess, someone wanted Afghanistan to be like Japan after WW2 - strong economic recovering and one of our best allies. . .except there are some differences - for one thing the US got an Unconditional Surrender out of Japan but not Afghanistan. Also a good chunk of water separates Japan from troublesome neighbors mainly China. Afghanistan is literally right next door to the troublesome neighbors.

Glad we can at least agree the warmongers can f**k off, even if we don't agree on much else.

Here's something that even the evil mustache could understand. The terrorists could find sanctuary in Pakistan, which has had an active nuclear weapons program since 1972. The US does not attack people who have nukes and are willing to use them. It was an impossible war to win. Now that we are pulling out of Afghanistan, jihadis can't use us as a distraction to justify their control, which will do more to promote democracy than years of war.

The statement emphasizes how difficult it is to battle terrorism and how complicated international relations are. It emphasizes that Pakistan and other nuclear-capable countries pose a distinct strategic challenge to the United States. The potential reduction of Islamist leverage against democracy https://pmkisanyojanastatus.com/ resulting from the departure from Afghanistan raises the possibility that fostering internal peace may be a more effective means of advancing democratic ideals than protracted conflict.
