I propose that trials and owner approval are no longer required in impeachments. A 10 vote supermajority is needed to pass this.

If you voted to impeach RichardChill24 last time, I advise you vote in favour of this amendment so that the impeachment is now valid.

There's a reason scar made it so he has to approve them in the first place

Also, what do you mean trials are no longer needed? Can we have a typed-out proposed amendment before voting?

The amendment has already been passed with the necessary two thirds supermajority of ten votes.

"I propose that trials and owner approval are no longer required in impeachments."

This means that trials in the Courtroom stream will no longer be mandatory during impeachments since Congressmen already act as the jury here. And owner approval will no longer be mandatory either because a supermajority vote from Congress (as well as support for the impeachment from the President, Vice President, Head of Congress and countless other users) should not be completely ignored by an unelected official as this could result in power abuse.

dude....u removed trials?! so richard litteraly isn’t allowed to make a defense? thats absurd

Congressmen are practically the jury already.

sure but if someone’s being impeached they should be allowed to defend themselves

As sloth already pointed out: "Everything I saw from Richard suggested he wasn’t really interested at all in mounting a defense. Just telling people “u mad?” over and over and over."

let’s say that true, what about future impeachment’s? why should they not be able to make a defense? or have you not thought that far ahead because of your blind hatred of richard.

They are allowed to make a defence, but as sloth and I have already pointed out, Richard was obviously not interested in mounting any coherent defence, and his past behaviour implied he wasn't taking this seriously enough either. I see no reason how you could possibly conclude I wanted to end all defences in impeachments beyond your blind hatred of myself and your strange desire to so desperately protect RichardChill24 from facing any consequences for his abhorrent actions.

did you not read the law you proposed? you want to remove the trial process from impeachment’s which will mean congress has to vote without seeing any evidence whatsoever.

I don't think I'm the one who didn't read it here. The previous process was far more convoluted. It demanded that a separate trial must take place and that the owner must approve everything. This new process says nothing about removing the right for the Congressman being impeached having his right to make a defence removed (assuming he is cooperating, which Richard was not). I only mentioned the aspects that would be removed. Separate trials with their own judge, lawyers, jury and the whole shebang make it too complicated since Congress already acts similar to a jury in impeachments. And owner approval every step of the way can be easily abused (which it was).

Let’s be real:

The one who abused this impeachment process is Richard, since he thumbed his nose at it the entire time and refused to mount a defense. His strategy, as far as I could tell, was to sit back and see if the impeachment process itself would implode thanks in part to his lack of participation. And it almost did.

After the impeachment vote took place, it was too late to challenge, but attempt to challenge it he did anyway using an alt and posting a Global Mod Memechat screenshot and taking it out of context, and repeated his same clichés about everyone being a crybaby. No one was moved by this awful after-the-fact “defense” as far as I could tell.

There *should* be “due process” rights. The accused *should* be allowed to speak in his defense, or to hire a friend as a “lawyer” to argue his case.

But if the accused doesn’t actually do those things, he waives the right to a defense.
