Every state offers a free identification card.

It is valid for voting in the state it is issued for states that require an ID, and would be valid in states it is issued for states proposing ID requirements.

Using an out of state ID to vote probably raises a red flag. As it should. In TX, you would still be given a provisional ballot.

State issued ID, is state issued ID. It's from the same department that issues drivers licenses. One says something like "State ID" and the other says "Drivers License". I had a state issued ID at 14 years old, before I could get a drivers license.....and probably before you were born.

Are you under the impression that a person can only get an ID if there's a DMV in their community? I can go to any DMV in the state to do any business I have to do with the DMV. There are a lot of reasons to shut down a DMV - lack of personnel is one glaringly obvious reason.

The pandemic shutdowns and enhanced unemployment payments sent people home and many are unwilling to return to work as long as their unemployment pays more than the job they left.

Fortunately, any DMV can handle your business.

And if you think people will give up cashing their paychecks, or their welfare checks, or their unemployment checks - because they don't have a DMV in their city - you're sadly mistaken. Reading elsewhere that you're from Australia - let me clue you in on a few things that require ID.

Cashing a check, opening a bank account, buying alcohol, buying cigarettes, opening a cell phone account, getting a landline phone, getting electric utility, getting a water utility, getting an apartment....

Any DMV can issue any resident of the state an ID. It's not community based or even regional, its statewide.

Do you have proof that this is being done deliberately with the intent of stopping voting? Since a DMV's primary function is Driver's licenses and vehicle registration and not voting ID, this just doesn't make sense.

In the county that I live in, there are 6 DMV locations. They have all been in the same cities for at least the last 20 years that I know of. The only time any were closed was to build a newer building. However, the new building is still in the same general area.

The other fallacy is that only a driver's license or state ID is acceptable. That is not true. Florida has an ID requirement to vote. The acceptable ID includes; Florida driver’s license, Florida state ID, U.S. Passport, Debit or credit card, Military ID, Student ID, Retirement center ID, Neighborhood association ID, Public assistance ID, Veterans health ID card, License to carry concealed weapon or firearm, Employee photo ID card issued by Federal Government, State of Florida, county, municipality or other entity of Florida. Even if you do show up to vote and you don't have your ID, you can still vote on a provisional ballot.

The other question I have is, do these people not have bank accounts or credit cards, both of which require a state-issued photo ID. If they collect welfare, EBT, or Medicaid, they need an ID. If they fly on a plane or get prescription medicine, they need to show an ID. If they want to cash a check, get a loan, rent an apartment, buy a house, go to a doctor/hospital, use a library, or apply for a gas and electric account, they need to show an ID.

How do all these millions of people live their life without some form of ID?
