This is one of those, actions speak louder than words scenarios. If you say you love the nation and then go out of your way not to honor the nation... Occam's razor would suggest that it's because you're, in truth, really not a big fan of the nation. Perhaps not "hate"... but definitely not "love".

Or you don't cultishly idolise it.

I'm about to ask this rhetorically, you don't need to divulge anything you don't want, obviously:

Have you ever been in the military? Have you ever served your nation, state or your community in any way? Do you understand what duty, honor, personal sacrifice and selfless service means to the men and women that have/do/will?

I would never advocate for someone to be FORCED to salute any flag, sing along to any anthem or pledge allegiance to any nation. But for those of us who have volunteered to serve, seeing someone else who volunteered to represent the US disrespecting the nation... it's insulting... it's disgusting... and it directly upon her character as a human being.

You don't have to cultishly idolize a nation to not be disrespectful to its flag or anthem.

Simple, if the symbols of the country trigger you you hate it and what it represents. Find a new country. Maybe Australia.

So you think someone who is supposed to represent their country should be allowed to dishonor that country by being a narcissistic asshole? Tell me, if she hates this country so much, why is she competing on the world stage to represent it? If her country is so horrible, why is she competing?

It's your right to be an ungrateful prick when it comes to America... you need not honor our flag or stand for our anthem. That's why people like me exist... to protect and ensure people like you can do as they please. But when one REPRESENTS the nation, one ought to represent it well... because there're more people in it than just that ONE.

Honor, sacrifice and selfless service are difficult concepts to assimilate for our current batch of over-privileged citizenry but that could just be because the most egregious examples are simply too young and sheltered to know better.

It isnt about the SPeCIaL sOng or whatever you called it. It’s about being patriotic and being proud of your country. It’s about honoring all that we’ve been thew and remembering the sacrifices of the brave men and women who died fighting for our freedom

So no. It isnt about THe MaGic SkY cLoth. Its about patriotism… which you seem to lack
