So I'm only going to explain this once. So please, try to use your f**king skull sponge for God's sake.
The parties never switched. Here is why:
- The Southern Democrats were racists; pro-slavery, pro-segregation, pro-Jim Crow
- Once Truman signed his pro-Civil Rights legislature those "Southern Democrats" would never win another election - obviously. So they abandon the Democrat party as "Dixiecrats".
- The Dixiecrats went with Strom Thurmond, who still ran as a Democrat.
Following me so far? What the 'Dixiecrats' did is pretty much what is happening to the republican party. The 'American First' candidates are splitting from the RINO Republicans. They still hold the same political views -
- By this point, the democrats begin to lose momentum in the south
- In 1964, Johnson signs the Civil-Rights bill; he knows the democrats now lost the 'Dixiecrats' forever.
- Now that Johnson has ".. the nig**** voting [democrat] for the next 200 years", the Dixiecrats know they will NEVER win a Democrat position as no black American is dumb enough to vote their way back into slavery
- President Nixon ran with a "Southern Strategy" to pander to these Dixiecrats, even though most of them still ran with the Democrat party
- By Reagan, the south was locked in as red; a traditional 'Southern Democrat' would never win an election since the democrats had to use policy to entrap the minority vote
The democrats are still racist. Now they use black Americans as their 'Useful Idiots'. Democrats only care for power - nothing more.
The republicans never 'switched' - you see?
The only occurrence is that a shit-load of racists abandoned the democrat party for political gain. Democrats are historically known as traitors, so is it really surprising they abandoned their own party?
They do not represent the entire republican party.
