“These types of people don’t live in areas with easy access to DMVs where they can get IDs.”

“I feel like they don’t have the knowledge of how it (the internet) works. For most of the communities they just don’t know what is out there.”

Those were some quotes of white liberals on Black people getting ID.

1, it's on fox news, master source of information.
2, the white women shown are not confirmed to be on either party, and they say voter law is racist because of the republicans (specifically the trumpublicans)
3, they could've just interviewed more black people with different results and cut out the footage.
4, they're telling the black people that they are seeing voting laws are racist, (which is trying to say that black people deserve better) but they tell it as the white people said black people don't have ids.

2. If they say a law is racist because it's proposed by Trump doesn't that give you a hint of where they are politically? Plus they're at Berkeley California, one of the most left wing areas in the nation.

3. In theory, but it'd be stupid to discredit the rest of them based on a what if.

4. They did. Remember "They're less likely to have IDs."
"These types of people don't live in areas with easy access to DMVs where they can get IDs."
"Minority voters are less likely to have the kinds of IDs required."

2: They never said that it was racist because of trump, and that is an assumption, because of the amount of people they asked at least 1 most likely was not left wing.

3: You're being kind of a hypocrite saying it'd be stupid to discredit the rest of them based on a what if, when you said that probably all of the people the interviewed were left wing.

4: No. Listen clearly. The people said that the voting restrictions based on race are racist and unfair, and the fox news idiots basically said to the black people that they said black people can't have IDs.

2. I was going by what you had said in your previous comment.

3. Of course I can't be certain but at least my assumption is backed up by some evidence. Also what's your alternative? Is it reasonable to believe that Republicans themselves are the ones calling a law that their own party is proposing racist? Or is it that those interviewed are centrists? Both of these are unlikely and centrists are very uncommon in society, much less when the interviews are at the left's Mecca equivalent.

4. What are the voting restrictions based on race? The law is requiring ID to be presented to confirm voter's identity. I still fail to see how this is "Jim Crow on steroids" as Biden has called it.

2: In what way did my first comment help your second one?

3: What evidence? I want links, not words. And republicans that are not far right can call out against their own leader's actions. As I was saying, they could be any party. And while states can determine the party of those their, it is not 100% accurate. I guarantee you at least 1 of those people were not on the left side of the political spectrum. But I also guarantee you that there is at least 1 leftist there. But either way, they did nothing negative.

It's an overwhelming statistical probability that those interviewed are on the left. Even more so when the criticism of the laws is coming from the left. I dare you to find me exactly how many Republicans are against voter ID laws and then how many Democrats are against voter ID laws and let me know who's more against it.

4. You still fail to answer exactly how the law is racist. Hm, maybe because IT'S NOT.

Democratic Party - revitalized the slave industry(Andrew Jackson before he became president), kept slavery going for almost the first century of the country, no Democrat voted for getting rid of slavery and only one Democrat voted to give Blacks the Right to Vote, created the KKK, IQ&Literacy Tests for Voting, Jim Crow/Segregation Laws, tossed law abiding and loyal Japanese Immigrants into camps, kept voting against Civil Rights Bill until it became politically convenient for them to do so, marginalized the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr, flipped the hatred of Blacks onto Whites, replaced the KKK with BLM, still say stupid racist crap like, "If you don't know who to vote for then you ain't black."

Granted, not every allied country handled Nazi Germany 100% perfectly. In fact, no country on earth did.

But FDR was consistently anti-Nazi, helping support Winston Churchill's Britain against the Nazis when they stood alone through the Lend-Lease Act. Policies which were unpopular with FDR's Republican opponents, the "isolationists" who feared such acts would lead to war with Germany.

And then of course there was that whole WWII thing. FDR made efforts to keep America engaged in the European Theater when many Americans only wanted to fight Imperial Japan as retaliation for Pearl Harbor.

So, condemning FDR for not standing up to the Nazis is about as sensible as condemning Lincoln for not doing enough to end slavery.

Hindsight is 20/20 but FDR is a titan among Presidents for what he did.

My biggest gripe against FDR (and there are many) is completely caving to Stalin when it came to central Europe. He basically signed their death sentences at Yalta. :(

Actually FDR and his cabinet were surprisingly pro Fascist. “ FDR’s adviser Rexford Tugwell wrote in his diary that Mussolini had done “many of the things which seem to me necessary.” Lorena Hickok, a close confidante of Eleanor Roosevelt who lived in the White House for a spell, wrote approvingly of a local official who had said, “If [President] Roosevelt were actually a dictator, we might get somewhere.” She added that if she were younger, she’d like to lead “the Fascist Movement in the United States.” At the National Recovery Administration (NRA), the cartel‐creating agency at the heart of FDR’s New Deal, one report declared forthrightly, “The Fascist Principles are very similar to those we have been evolving here in America.” Roosevelt himself called Mussolini “admirable” and professed that he was “deeply impressed by what he has accomplished.” The admiration was mutual. In a laudatory review of Roosevelt’s 1933 book Looking Forward, Mussolini wrote, “Reminiscent of Fascism is the principle that the state no longer leaves the economy to its own devices.… Without question, the mood accompanying this sea change resembles that of Fascism.” The chief Nazi newspaper, Volkischer Beobachter, repeatedly praised “Roosevelt’s adoption of National Socialist strains of thought in his economic and social policies” and “the development toward an authoritarian state” based on the “demand that collective good be put before individual self‐interest.”

FDR & Mussolini quotes from 1933? That’s cute.

Perhaps he was too sanguine about the fascist threat way back in his presidency’s early days. But darn near everyone was, Churchill the most notable exception.

By the time of the events depicted in this photo, it’s not hard to tell where FDR stood.
0 ups, 4y
FDR wasn't super hostile to Nazis. The entire US govt was pro-nazi. The liberals opposed going to war with the Nazis. Carter had Nazi sympathizers in his cabinet. Reagan literally had former Nazis in his cabinet.

The US is fascist and internationalized fascism after WWII (operation Gladio) and reinstalled Nazis in government in Italy, Germany, and Ukraine after WWII. The Nazi German intelligence (The Galen Organization) was reinstalled directly as the German intelligence after WWII. The US bought up Nazi scientists like hot cakes (Operation Paperclip). Henry Ford was in bed with the Nazis and a personal friend of hitler. Prescott Bush-father of GHW Bush and grandfather of GW Bush-made a lot of money trading with the Nazis. Zachary isn't necessarily wrong, he is just leaving out the fact the GOP was just as in bed with Nazis. That omission is QUITE telling.

and yet the GOP consistently tops out at about 10% of black voters. I wonder why 9 in 10 black ppl in the US consistently vote dem despite the big fat nothing the dems do for them. JK, it's because the GOP uses racism as a political weapon explicitly while the dems promise a lot and deliver nothing. Just look at the fact theGOP disenfranchised hundreds of thousands of black voters in Georgia over the last decade and just signed new voter suppression laws, having a black lawmaker arrested for knocking on the door of the governor who held a private signing ceremony.

You are totally ignorant and don't care and aren't interested in learning.

Technically he's not rich at all. The taxes and costs associated with his properties is almost more than his profit on them. It's one of the things that prompted him to run for president. He got rid of hundreds of useless costly regulations.
Now his net worth (if he were to sell everything) is in the billions.

If the issue is having an ID, which seems important for fair elections, why doesn't either side propose actions to help people get IDs that deserve one? That way we can both be happy. Oh, right. They don’t care.

In principle I think making IDs more widely available is an awesome idea, but requiring ID to vote is clear and obvious disenfranchisement tactic. This happened in my home state of Arkansas. The GOP shuts down the DMV (RMV in arkansas but the same thing) locations is all the rural black areas, what do you think the goal of that is in combination with ID requirements for voting? It's to create a nominally race blind barrier to voting. Just like pole taxes. Just like grand father clauses. just like closing down polling location. If you cannot see the connections you are either not at all familiar with the history of voting rights in the US, or intentionally ignoring that history.
0 ups, 4y,

Why is not requiring ID the only option? There are other options. It’s just that no one offers common ground solutions, only partisan ones. If it’s true that requiring ID equals disenfranchisement, we could easily figure out other options besides not requiring ID, wouldn’t you agree?
0 ups, 4y,
1 reply
THIS IS IN NO WAY AT ALL A PARTISAN SOLUTION. VOTER ID REQUIREMENTS ARE A PARTISAN SOLUTION BY THE GOP TO BLACK PEOPLE BEING ABLE TO VOTE. I agree with nothing you have said at all. It's totally unnecessary and a nominally race blind effort to disenfranchise people who are predominantly non-white. There is no issue of fraudulent voting. there is a massive issue with people's right to vote being withheld. There are multiple states, as I have said several times and you didn't read because you are a lazy clown, who have removed the voting rights of hundreds of thousands of overwhelmingly non-white people over grounds which were deemed invalid. Two prominent examples of are Michigan and Georgia. This occurred in violation of the voting rights act. This is a solution in search of a problem. It will keep tons of people from voting when, as I have also said multiple times, THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH FRAUDULENT VOTING.

You really, really, really need to learn about the history of the repression of voting rights in the US. You're are just repeating the same shit I have already addressed.

There is nothing inherently racist about asking folks for an ID. Historical oppression is not current oppression. Please explain why the system is currently racist by asking for an ID. If there is issues that prevent predominantly black communities from obtaining an ID, it would be nice to know how many black folks who need an ID that don’t have one, and then try and get them one. If there are laws that allow people to prevent folks from getting IDs, we need to correct them. That way we can have free AND fair elections, right? Is this not bi-partisan?

no. it's a targeted measure just like the pole taxes and grand father clauses. They're supposed to appear neutral legally, but are designed to have the effect of preferentially disenfranchising poor minority voters. You should read the text of the voting rights act, idiot.

The likelihood of having an ID suitable for voting under voter id laws. Sadly in the United States poverty is heavily racialized. Look to other voter suppression measures like the cross check lists and the aggressive redistricting efforts of the GOP as well as efforts to place restrictions on voting times and locations. All of these measures are designed to work backwards from the goal of ensuring that the GOP has outsized political power and winds elections that it would otherwise lose. The Democrats are not especially concerned with voting rights either. I am not a Democrat, however if the Democrats have decided to take up the defense of voting rights for partisan purposes I have no problem with that since I believe that everyone should be able to vote with no restrictions whatsoever. One of the Dead giveaways of the Democrats interest being largely a pragmatic one is the fact that their own primary systems are so unfair. If they were truly interested in Fair elections they would reform these practices. Again, my interest is in everyone having full voting rights and therefore I would love to see free and open voting in the primaries of both parties with no registration requirements. This fact sets me apart from Democrats. It is quite easy to be consistent when you have actual convictions.
