General Qasem Soleimani was the commander of Iran's Quds Force who together with the Shia militia and Kurdish Peshmerga he coordinated the fight against ISIL/ISIS in Iraq that began in 2014 and wrapped up in 2017 which Trump took credit for. He did likewise for Syria, again which Trump took credit for.

He also gave the W Bush Admistration the intel by which our Military planned our invasion of Afghanistan, which Bush thanked him the following with the "Axis of Evil" dub.

IS cheered his assasination as now that he's gone, that leadership is now gone, and the coalition is susceptiple to fracturing, and ISIL can make inroads once again throughout the region.
