People are mad at him because he left the country when it needed his help the most - not because he went to Mexico of all places. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I heard)

But he's not a state official; he's a federal official. If the governor did this, then it would be a big deal, but not really a national politician. Also, Zoom meetings have become the default, which means that in-person meetings have become less relevant.

The real reason why I think people are mad at him is because of politics; they don't like him because he said the election results should be audited back in January, and the left wants to take him down because of it.

Texas is a state, not a country. Also what exactly do you expect Ted to do that governor of Texas hasn’t already done to help the situation?

He is a politician, so maybe he was supposed to unfreeze the state with his hot breath?

Not run away to Mexico, that's for sure

gee it's almost as if he's a politician disingenuously escaping the bad situation other texans are in... the people who voted for him. strange. but of course imgflip has to turn this into some culture war shit because their mental processing power is worse than a goldfish's memory.

You're saying he's "disingenuously escaping the bad situation"? How was it "disingenuous" at all? Did he ever tell other Texans to "stay at home"? No, not to my knowledge. He's a federal politician, not a local state politician. Meetings are commonly held online these days anyways. It appears that this entire issue has been manufactured by the political left, which despises Ted Cruz. This is little more than a nothing burger.

"How was it "disingenuous" at all?"

coincidence that he picked to go to a warmer place right when his state was the coldest, is it not?

"He's a federal politician, not a local state politician"

he's also not doing the job of representing texas in congress by taking leave.

"It appears that this entire issue has been manufactured by the political left, which despises Ted Cruz"

ted cruz also received money from the oil industry, so despising him is completely justified in my eyes.

not far different from his rival, beto, or our previous president. typical texas cuckservative if you ask me.

This is literally what countless Americans do during the winter.

"he's also not doing the job of representing texas in congress by taking leave."
Do you realize that U.S. Senators represent their states while physically outside their states?

"ted cruz also received money from the oil industry, so despising him is completely justified in my eyes."
Well, there is it. At least you're honest. I don't think this was ever about Ted Cruz doing "wrong", but about people on the left wanting to generate fake outrage in order to smear their political opponent.

not during the pandemic, let alone houston's impoverished, freezing citizens.

"Do you realize that U.S. Senators represent their states while physically outside their states?"

do you realize that representing their states means advocating for policy in favor of its people? what happened to we the people?

"I don't think this was ever about Ted Cruz doing "wrong", but about people on the left wanting to generate fake outrage in order to smear their political opponent"

literally anyone could get smeared the wrong way by receiving lobbying money. is """"""fake outrage"""""" all you can come up with when politicians you happen to agree with do something disingenuous? you don't even try to disprove what i said, or say how gaining lobbying money is totally fine.

"he picked to go to a warmer place right when his state was the coldest"

Again, this is one of the most common things to do when there's cold weather.

"do you realize that representing their states means advocating for policy in favor of its people? what happened to we the people?"

Do you understand the difference between state and federal government?

"literally anyone could get smeared the wrong way by receiving lobbying money"

I don't know what that's supposed to mean. Look, it's pretty clear that people are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. Notice that another Democrat in New York is currently being investigated for decisions that may have gotten thousands of people killed, but the left wants to talk about Ted Cruz.....for going to Mexico for a few days. Wake up.

"Do you understand the difference between state and federal government?"

yes. that doesn't put cruz in a helpless position regarding texas blackouts, however.

"I don't know what that's supposed to mean"

it means that whoever receives lobbying money is part of the swamp trump promised to drain back in 2016, and is therefore part of a group of elite establishment hacks.

"Notice that another Democrat in New York is currently being investigated for decisions that may have gotten thousands of people killed, but the left wants to talk about Ted Cruz"

the reason i'm talking about cruz is because people are defending him. notice that you're bringing up a red herring

"Wake up"

people who say "wake up" or call themselves "woke" are genuinely the most obnoxious people on the planet

Look, seems pretty clear to me that the hub bub over Ted Cruz was largely artificial. People on the left often act out of political interest, and this was a way to get back at him. You are free to your opinion, and I am free to mine. Peace.

"People on the left often act out of political interest, and this was a way to get back at him."

they won't talk about his oil money because they're hacks

"You are free to your opinion, and I am free to mine. Peace."

That’s because of...
COVID COVID COVID
And you know it too

That doesn’t make any sense though when we’re letting people enter our country en mass. If Democrats and even some Republicans were as concerned about this virus as they want us to believe they are then they would restrict travel to and from this country and keep our borders closed for the time being. It’s not like it would kill them stay in America.

I wasn't annoyed with Ted Cruz's departure, but his return.

if your business was crumbling, the whole company needs you and you go to cancun? i would expect everyone to be livid at you
0 ups, 3y
This would be more like one of the members of the board, who doesn't control the day-to-day operations of the company, going to Cancun. And then of course everyone at the company communicates via Zoom meetings anyway.

under normal circumstances, it'd be completely fine for him to go to mexico. but his state was in a crisis. his job is to keep texas safe and functioning and when the world is in a climate crisis that hit HIS state especially hard, you need to be held accountable and at least try to do something to fix the problem. you can't just fly off to mexico when your state is going through something like that

Actually, it's the governor's job to "keep texas safe and functioning".

oh i'm sorry, but still, you can't do that from mexico
0 ups, 3y
Since Ted Cruz is not in local government and most meetings can/do occur through Zoom these days anyway, this "scandal" was likely much ado about nothing. Peace.
