Forgive me THEnukeman123, I should just remain in silent awe of your comments, but I wanted to add some things, solar requires square footage, lots of it, that's just physics which is SCIENCE!, so to power NYC the entire state of Connecticut would have to be covered in solar panels. Of course that has no, none, absolutely not one solitary environmental impact at all and wildlife can lounge in the abundance of shade. Never mind that solar panels get hot enough to blister you, that won't cause global warming. Windmills? A lot of real estate. If environmentalists are truly environmental, which they aren't and never will be, they would be all over new generation nukes, man.
FYI I drilled environmental research wells all around Yucca Mountain a few years ago. What an incredible place, it is absolutely the perfect place to store nuclear waste until we develop the technology to re-use it. The geology of that area is perfectly suited to protect everything from nuclear waste. (Of course they don't have any nuclear waste being brought anywhere close to Yucca until they might be able to do the right thing once politics get out of the way, wink wink. Gotta put it somewhere beside barrels outside cancer centers and other places, nod nod)

You are so right about better things. People think the only thing we use coal, oil and gas for is electricity and driving cars. They never think where the carbon in strong lightweight, energy saving, environmentally friendly carbon fiber comes from. Coal. Nor do the know where we get virtually every chemical we use for plastics, synthetics, food production, water filtration, medications, smart phones, computers and on and on. Oil and gas. If they were honestly informed and sincere about saving the planet they would be all over nuclear power.
We don't have uranium mines anymore, mainly wells with oxidant injection and we get it insitu with virtually no environmental impacts. We are so good at enrichment that there are no environmental issues with that step either. Learned decades ago how to safely transport it and use it. Classic political response. They can't legitimately make a case against it so they choke it anywhere they can, in this case regulating disposal and stirring up irrational fear.

It sounds to me like the infrastructure in Texas just isn't built to withstand these kind of storms and that it has nothing to do with green energy. Processed gas does not freeze at normal pressure, all the natural gas liquids are removed before it gets to an end user. Unprocessed gas freezes in insulated pipelines when the hydrates are too high. Stop picking on Biden, he can't remember how CROOKED he is.

little used pipelines accumulate condensation. That may be why their gas line froze. Also how the line was routed could have caused a condition where condensation accumulated in a low point. Just speaking from 40 years producing natural gas from the wellhead to consumer pipelines.

Oops, forgot to say producing gas in the Rocky Mountains at 10,000 elevation, minus 40 degree winter temperatures for months. I know just a little about freezing pipelines.
