The movement behind everyone is beautiful , no body shaming, and my body my choice.... Spent the last 4 years calling Trump a Cheeto, making fun of his hair, making fun of his weight, & spent many hours making fun of Melania's wardrobe choices.

so it's okay for him to insult whoever he want but not for us to insult him?

Its called being better and not stooping to his level.

If the groups behind all bodies are beautiful - slanders a person over their hair and weight - then they are going against their own standards. That's called being a hypocrite.

If he wants to stoop low and insult people - let him sit in his own filth himself. Don't jump into the filth too & call him names, when that action contradicts what you preach.

But aren’t you all the “Christian right?” Love they neighbor? Love thy enemy as thyself? Do unto others and all that? Trump says the worst things about people, mocks the disabled, mocked Hillary when she had pneumonia. It’s beyond hypocritical to cry about Cheeto comments.

Well technically if we are all Christian Rights, the Christian right folks had their indiscretions paid for with Christ on the cross. So while they may be messed up in that same way - their deity covered their indiscretions. The content of their character is recognizing this and being thankful a dude got murdered on a cross.

Not a ton of Democrats are also Christians - therefore the content of their character is judged by their actions alone. Which makes them a hypocrite. Because most of them don't believe in a God that marked their slate clean.

So in respect to that - leftists are still worse.

I myself am a Christian Registered Democrat. Proud democrat - proud Trump Supporter.

Welp, that’s where you need to stop believing everything you hear on Christian radio. There are entire liberal churches out there, and I’m not talking about neighborhood mom and pop churches but large, active liberal churches.

And just because Jesus died on the cross for our sins doesn’t give you carte Blanche to go around acting like an a-hole, quite the opposite. You’re also supposed to aspire to being Christ-like otherwise you’re just a big ol’ hypocrite. So no, liberals don’t get held to higher standards because the Christian Right has a get out of hell free card.

Interesting. I am a Christian (and a very flawed one, at that), but I would like to say something that may or may not be misapplied: Christians not only SHOULD be, but MUST be held to a higher standard in the way that we engage others. This is a big part of why I try to be kind even when I feel like others aren’t. The bumper sticker that says “Christians aren’t perfect, just forgiving” to often becomes a mantra in an attempt to excuse bad behavior rather than express gratitude for God’s mercy and grace. Jesus was very clear when he said “blessed are you when people mistreat you and falsely say all kinds of evil about you because of me”, Not “blessed are you when you jump into political discussions and act like others are pieces of trash”. We are blessed when people FALSELY speak evil of us, on account of Christ, not when we act like jack wagons as a result of a disagreement. That is not a slam to anybody on this thread, simply some thing that I have seen very much lately from both the conservative and liberal sides.

On that note, I’ve heard many conservatives who believe that it doesn’t make sense to be a liberal and a Christian, but I’m sure there are plenty on the other side to say the same thing. People ask “how can you support trump?“ And my response is typically that I will support a person who comes across as a jerk but is pro life over someone who comes across with more decency but supports mass infanticide. I guess that’s neither here nor there, though.

It’s definitely not just about somebody dying on the cross. If that person had not been the son of God Himself ( and “One with God“, the word become flesh, etc.), then his sacrifice would not have been enough to assuage God’s righteous anger against the sins of a rebellious race of people that he created...i.e., you and me. The fact that He rose from the dead shows that He overcame sin and death once and for all, and has destroyed its hold over anyone who turns to Him in repentant faith. The life, death, burial, resurrection, and personhood of Jesus Christ Are historical and affect every human being whoever lives, whether they know it or not. And the simple fact is… A person could be pro life, Republican, conservative, and the nicest human being in the world, but without Christ they will not get into heaven, because Jesus Himself said “I am the way, the truth, and the life no one comes to the Father except through me.” Politics don’t get anyone into heaven. Only Jesus does.

Well spoken. I agree that Christians often are held to a higher standard, and that it's a big opportunity to show a godly testimony.

What better godly testimony is there than "I am flawed, God loves me, & his Son is the proof he loves me"

Which is what I am referring to.

I agree, but I think it's no excuse to do wrong (which I'm sure you agree with), and I think the more we show Jesus through us the more people will want something they don't have.
1 up, 4y
Right -but since the guy wanted to try to stick one to Conservatives - Christians too at that, its fun to point out that they are still being worse. ;)
0 ups, 4y
Also I would say (though a bit off topic) by most leftist standards, Christians are some of the most oppressed people in the US. Churches get shot up a lot just because they're churches. I haven't seen any rallies or protests from the left for Christians. (I'll stress again that would be by the typical leftist's standard of oppression. As a Christian in America I don't think I'm oppressed. Especially not when I look at countries where oppression is a much, much bigger problem.)

"You all?" Is that the southern version of "You people?" Maybe JasonRexRoat is a memeber of the Christian right. I don't know. Saying all conservatives are Christian right is stereotyping. Is Trump a member of the Christian right?

As to the rest of your argument, I think that yes, this could be applied to both sides. Neither side has integrity, as defined as commitment to one's ideals regardless of what anyone else does. No wonder the left and right hate each other, they both allow the other to trick them into abandoning their professed beliefs.

FYI: It took an easy Google search to find this. And there’s plenty more out there. Calling a Trump a Cheeto is a dig at his over use of self-tanning. But comparing the Obamas to chimps speaks to one of the most disgusting aspects of your party.

Well Trump uses Self Tanning & such - but calling him a Cheeto is offensive. Calling the Obamas Chimps is only offensive to the chimps.

Maybe because he wasn’t very bright? Not sure about that one. Was it about the way he looked?
0 ups, 4y
Obviously when some Leftists call Bush a chimp, that was okay. But when some Right wingers call Michelle Obama a chimp, that's not okay. Why am I not surprised by the hypocrisy?

Wow. That's awful. Find me one conservative of any stature who would defend that, please.

"But comparing the Obamas to chimps speaks to one of the most disgusting aspects of your party."

Unlike your party, which gives a pass to people openly calling for genocide of white people.

It wouldn't take me long at all to find absolutely horrific examples of racial hatred against white people which receives no pushback whatsoever from your side.

I haven’t heard anyone openly calling for the genocide of white people whereas you have entire organizations in your party dedicated to the genocide of all minorities, gays and Jews. Aside from the fact Trump sides with Israel over Palestine due to his personal financial interests, it amazes me Jewish people can stick with your party at all.

You obviously don't know how to use a search engine, then Maui. It took 3 minutes to find this:

“ whereas you have entire organizations in your party dedicated to the genocide of all minorities, gays and Jews”

Name them. Name the organizations and the people “dedicated to the genocide of all minorities”.

a tiny handful of people on the right might've called him that, but the attacks on trump are mainstream

It says “the most hateful racist comments.” By standard English rules, that means the main qualification is “racist” and the comparison is how hateful they are. To be relevant, they should be both.

YouTube is far more likely to remove videos of blacks behaving violently than white people saying mean things.

Except that many of these videos have been being posted over the past decade before BLM and Karens were even a thing.
