"Trump was asked today during a press conference if he would commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses. He refused, saying that “we’re going to have to see what happens.” He followed up by saying he wants to get rid of the ballots, and that “there won’t be a transfer frankly, there’ll be a continuation.” This comes on the heels of his earlier comments today, when he stated that his motivation for ramming through a Supreme Court nominee was so that they could serve as a tiebreaker in the court’s ruling on the election — i.e. help hand him the presidency.
Do not become numb to these comments. They are not the ravings of a madman — they are the goals of a narcissist who will stop at nothing to hold onto power. But most importantly, do not become cynical and give up. Trump would not be deploying every trick in the authoritarian playbook if he wasn’t terrified of your vote. He knows he can’t win with the support of the people, so he’s trying to undermine our will and our democratic process. We won’t let him get away with it."
