Was a good show too.

Sad that Scolari was gine after, I thought they were gonna be the next hit comic duo in movies.

If I remember correct, I thought Peter was the funnier one. Didn't he do 'The Ghoulies'?

Seems I'm the only fella under 60 on Earth that never watched that movie.

Been so long I don't remember, but they had a great chemistry, and though I actually saw Joe vs the Volcano in a theater, that didn't seem to indicate Hanks had that promising of a career ahead.

Oh, it was bad. But very 80's bad, which now ain't so bad.

Yeah, i think it was one season. Didn't last long.

YFW?

Hey, it had Abe Vigoda, so worth the $5 there.

ONLY 1? Dang, figured it was at least 2 or so, but the again back then a year seemed a decade long.

I still find it hard to watch Candy movies since he passed away, except maybe Vacation and I might have switched channels near the end.
So sad. R.I.P. you beautiful man.

Your face when.

Really, forgot that. Probably saw it at 8 or so. So many i've forgotten about.

Looked it up, it was two.

Yeah, I've never heard a single person bashing him. A real shame he was saddled with so much garbage, in terms of roles.

Oh, SPLASH! BWAA! Looks like the coffee I just had helped too.
Don't forget Eugene Levy in it too!

Oh, it was then? Wonder if it was cancelled or ended on account of Hankypoo departing for the big screen.

Look at it this way, we've only in the last decade come to where the more heavyset can be seen as more than a clown foil in the movies. Sure, he was hilarious, but he woulda been typcasted as the funny fat friend or on occasion, dad or weirdo brother.
Belushi tried to go drama, and that movie failed, so he woulda ended up in that rut too.

Hanks, on the other hand, well I got this Epic Movie Voice Narrator for Commercials thingy about him that goes like this:

"And starring Tom HaNks in a role so sincere, it'll make you puke.
It'll make you stop asking, "Where has .Meryl Streep been all these years?"..."

Ok, that goes back a few decades because unfortunately, Ms Avert Eyes and Wipe Tear never quite went away.
But that's the basic Tom Hanks role, the mildly befuddled way sincere guy.

Ahh, interesting.

Was thinking late how while Hannah seemed poised for a big career at the time, it didn't happen, yet she's far more talented than history has credited her as. Shame.

Looking at his IMDB Page...

'Splash' made him a "Movie Star" he wouldn't 'have to' do TV after that

the one-two Punch of 'Turner & Hooch' + 'Joe Versus the Volcano' pushed him into 'A Tom Hanks Movie' territory instead of 'a movie with Tom Hanks in it' (if you get my distinction) \

and with Philadelphia and Gump back to back a few years later he proved his range and went full "Superstar"

I'd say Big pushed him over the line.

I was leaning that way too... but between Big and Hooch he had Punchline and the Burbs which underwhelmed, if not under performed...

is only real Misstep after Joe vs the Volcano was Bonfire of the Vanities (which had a myriad of issues) well, until 2004's Ladykillers

HAA! Never caught that one! By that point Hanks was beginning to itch me the wrong way, or maybe I was busy, I forget.
But I later heard the dog dies and I don't want to watch and get depressed so never caught it on the tv either.

all due respect... it's a movie about a Dog (outside of the Air Bud Franchise) there's usually only 3 ways it ends...

- The Dog Dies
- The Dog Produces Puppies
- The Dog Produces Puppies and Dies...

He put in a couple of years on Newhart... and I know he was the Client in a Perry Mason Movie... but aside from a TV version of 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids' he seems to have settled into being a 'character actor'

Oh well, at least he got a little something. But still, as overrated as Hanks got, why couldn't Scolari and whomever else getting a bigger chunk of the Hollywood pie?
