I believe that imgflip is beginning to lose its way. I was censored and threatened with having my account terminated after submitting a meme highlighting a proven fact concerning pedophilia. It was censored for "homophobia" (a cretinous newspeak word). I did not all intend on that meme being perceived as anti-homosexual. On the contrary, I support homosexual civil unions. Today, a 5 month old meme of mine was censored for "transphobia" (another cretinous newspeak word). It featured an article criticising pedophilia. I did not intend on that meme being perceived as anti-transgender. I did not even criticise transgenders in that meme. It merely involved a transgender individual that I suspected was a pedophile. I fail to see how that meme violated the imgflip ToU in any way whatsoever. Is imgflip defending pedophiles, and disguising this as support for homosexuals and transgenders? I have reason to believe that imgflip is also defending anti-Abrahamics. The user synthetic-Mantis has frequently posted blatantly anti-Abrahamic content. Nothing has been done. So imgflip is fine with synthetic-Mantis violating the ToU, but angry at me for obeying the ToU? What hypocrisy! I believe that the imgflip ToU needs to be reformed, but if they don't reform it, they could at least be consistent in following the current one.

Here is my suggestion: all imgflip users should be required to enter their age. Content deemed inappropriate for minors (eg. anti-Abrahamic comments) should be hidden from users aged 13-17. It is like the NSFW button is permanently switched on for minors, but for both memes and comments. For adult users, there should be no censorship, apart from illegal content, of course. So users like synthetic-Mantis should not be banned, but the anti-Abrahamic content he posts should be hidden from minors. This could make imgflip both family friendly and pro-free speech.

Right. I think they are getting to be way too restrictive. You can't really do much around here any more. It's ridiculous.

A few things are to be taken in order. First, don't be too quick to blame imgflip. Each stream has its own owners, own rules, and their own moderators, and as such their own moderation style. Since the thread of account termination was there, it might be safe to assume you did have to deal with a site moderator, but some stream moderators may not be aware they cannot do such things, and threaten with threats can cannot live up to.

Second, I do not know what you wrote about pedophillia, but I do know this about pedosexuality in general, and that is that it's a subject only a few people can handle to the full and correct context. Even politicians fail on this subject, if you ask me. Pedosexuality is a subject that revolts people and disables them to think properly and all intelligence goes completely in black-out mode. I know this does the solution to the problem about pedosexuality more harm than good, but that's the way it is. Many "proven facts" on this subject are actually bullcrap. 99% of the "defending pedophiles" accusations I've heard over the years, since I've been digging into this stuff (it's very extremely complex stuff, I tell ya), are either wrong or based on narrow-sighted views.

Many stories on this front have led to people taking the law into their own hands, and that's where stuff gets risky for imgflip. Although imgflip tries to uphold the freedom of speech as much as they can (at least in their general TOS), they must take utmost care, as they can be held responsible. And not allowing attacks on pedophiles does not mean you are "defending" the phenomenon either. Trust me, the subject is by far more complex than that.

Now when it comes to discussing other sexual orientations in combination with pedosexuality, then things also get complex. You know that many people are distrusting to anything not heterosexuality, and people easily link one to another. Some countries even based their laws on the misguided idea that every non-standard-heterosexual would be pedo.... Yeah, that's silly, narrow-sighted and repulsive, but alas they really did despite all that.

Also you should be careful with spreading accusations or even suspicions. Especially when it handles pedophillia. Some people have been lynched already on accusations like these, while they were irrefutably proven innocent. Imgflip could get in legal trouble for defamation. There is a load on the line with this subject.

Now I haven't seen the meme in question, so I can hardly judge, I can only make a few general summaries based on what I know about phedosexuality in general and the legal issues tied to it and the public opinion about it.

You must understand though that it's a very extremely sensitive subject, and you cannot be careful enough with it. That being said, I cannot blame any moderator for being too strict on this.

There is always a limit to what you can do on sites like these. Always was.... Thanks to many sites lacking proper moderation for awhile we easily forgot those limits where there, and why they were there, and now that the limits are being clear again (due to many juridical cases about that all around the world), we easily tend to speak of censoring.... Where the borderline lies to limits in the freedom of speech and pure censoring is always hard to say.... The line is also thin.... And when a subject is as controversial is that... well, then we get in a very complex case.

I submitted a meme in "politics" that the site admin told me was racist, so I submitted it in a user stream that I am a MOD of, so I got around that pretty easily. Although, I didn't get as many views and upvotes on it as I would have in "politics."

I submit censored memes on the streams I am a MOD of as well. But once even those were censored. Some libturd must have gone on a mass flagging hunt for my memes.

Here's the deal, instead of being a whiny rat, why not just focus on YOU and what YOU did and how what YOU did was wrong, and forget about other memers whose sense of humor flies way over your head?
