Okay, another one from you. And WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING at me? Please, take it easy on my tired eyes!
Guidelines are just that, guidelines. They're not laws, they're not city ordinances, they're not even rules. I'm happy to follow guidelines if they make sense, or even if they're explained in a way that says something like, hey, we just don't know, but we think it makes sense for you to... <insert guideline here> Then if I agree, I'll follow it. If I don't, I won't. That's what freedom and being an American is all about.
What I don't want to do, is blindly follow guidelines. If the govt is going to violate our rights in the name of our own best interest, don't you think they should at least act like they're doing it as a last resort? Shouldn't they at least act like they're going to only do it for the minimum amount of time necessary? I don't know where you live, but here in Kalifornia, they just don't give a damn about the people. Nussolini is destroying peoples' livelihoods and their lives in the process of stomping on our constitutional rights, and he absolutely cannot prove that doing so has done, or will do any good.
My post was about the people who think the government not only should, but needs to have a bigger say, almost total control actually, of their lives. That's not a principle that has anything to do with America. We're free, and that's exactly how the founders wanted it. Our entire constitution was written to protect us from a govt becoming too powerful, and treading on our rights. Read the constitution; it doesn't say freedom of speech, or freedom to peaceably assemble except... Nowhere does it say that.
So if the govt is going to do all this, they better have a good reason and be able to explain it to us. Otherwise, those of us who love freedom, and think skeptically (which is the only way to think, imo) just might suspect they're doing all this as long as possible, perhaps even up until a fall election, just to get rid of someone they clearly can't stand. And that's about as un-American as it gets.
