Slavery? Where do you think modern slavery exists? Not in the Muslim-majority nations. There are over 300,000 people living in slavery in the USA. Go to the UN website or read an article about what countries still have minor numbers of chattel slavery. Less than 155 years ago the USA was a nation of slavery.

It doesn't matter what little identity box you liberals like to put these types of religions, govts, etc., into, the bottom line is they're authoritarian, evil, and anti-freedom.

But if you're operating on the Left/Right axis that the OP meme posits (and which I curiously don't see you pushing back against): Sharia law is uberconservative. It's so far off the deep-end of uberconservative thought that it might not even be recognizable to American conservatives, but that's what it is.

~1300 years of Islamic political development (or the lack thereof) is too complex of a topic to delve into now, but comparing today's Western societies with Islamic societies: they're conservative, we're liberal.

You can certainly try to erode those two terms to the point they don't mean anything anymore, but it's not sensible and you won't be successful.

There seems to be this widespread belief among "right wingers" that "lefties" are going out of their way to court and defend and advocate for Islam and Muslims and Shariah Law. I haven't seen it. If you have not "seen it" you have put a lot more effort into being blind than you have into being sighted...not to mention your ability to use Google to research topics leaves much to be desired. I didn't push back on the left/right axis of the meme because that wasn't what I considered its most important element.

The element I latched on to was hypocrisy. The hypocrisy of those (and I don't care if they're on the left or right) who have situational morals / ethics, or shade them as it relates to their politics depending on the issue and what's in it for them.

Obviously the OP was attacking the left, but since I feel the attack could objectively be applied to both leftist and rightist hypocrites, I didn't bother to consider it in my reply to you. Why? Because there are an unlimited number of examples of people from both major parties being utter hypocrites when it comes to morality and ethics.

It's not a question, imo, of me trying to erode what the terms liberal and conservative mean in a classical sense. I think their meaning has eroded (evolved?) over time. I think that pretty clearly happens with many words over time as society and culture evolve.

Which brings me right back to the main point in my reply to you. I just don't see the value in trying to shoehorn Sharia law into the "conservative" identity box, any more than I would see the value of trying to shoehorn communism as practiced by the Chinese Communist Party into the liberal identity box.

I just don't see the value in using these identity boxes you liberals are so fond of, period. I think it's a shortcut for the intellectually weak. It's almost like a black box for opinion-forming. It allows those who let the media tell them what to think, to shove an issue into the black box, and have their opinion come out the other side. There's no intellectual integrity in that process.

And yet it is the much beloved commies, socialists, and leftist-libtards that champion this islamaholic BS, demand tolerance of sharia, support importing its fanatics wholesale into America, and expect any criticism of it to be classified as 'hate speech'...all the while pretending to be for gay rights, women's rights, democracy, and all the other stuff islamaholics claim to hate. Meanwhile it is conservatives that denounce it. I have no need to "erode those two terms", as libtardation is doing quite well without my help, via the judicious application of cognitive dissonance.
