I made a meme awhile back in which I acknowledged all the good things Trump’s done



It would be too burdensome to dig up at this point, so I’ll just summarize



1. Kept us out of any major new foreign wars

2. Beat ISIS (with significant allied help)

3. Strong jobs market and economy



However, for me and other Dems, the significant downsides of his presidency outweigh the positives



Most of these negatives seem peculiar to Trump and would not exist under a bog-standard GOP President



The behavior I’ve seen from Trump over the past year and the past year only is what has turned me into a solid Democrat for the first time in my life



I would like to be an Independent again and have a real decision to make at election time but that title is just not applicable to me anymore as long as the GOP is headed up by Trump.

I don't hate him... but I'm not a republican. I just think he's still raw from losing in 2012, and wants some attention. He knew his vote was nothing more than window dressing.

“Window dressing” only because 52 other GOP Senators lacked the courage of conviction to follow his example



If a couple more GOP senators had switched sides and more than 50 Senators had voted to remove Trump? Trump still wouldn’t have been removed, of course: but over 50% of the Senate saying you’re not fit for office is a pretty substantial vote of no confidence



In reality we just got bog standard GOP spinelessness, except for this guy

Only the Republicans voted for party above country- none of the Democrats did! I knew Mittens would vote the way he did, but using God as a dodge showed his lack of character (but his understanding of his fellow Mormons, who sucked it right down, was uncanny). He should have just said the evidence (?) convinced him, and left his holier than thou speech at church.

And if any of the sane Dems (I know there are some... but probably no more than sane republicans) had been honest and admitted that the entire impeachment was a sham, you'd need a lot more republicans to pull a Mitt before the impeachment would have met your imaginary standard of no confidence.



If the republicans take back the house and keep the senate, look for this impeachment to be expunged. I don't know if it's true, but I heard that the dems tried it after the Clinton fiasco in '96, but nobody was buying it.
