It doesn't matter since she is pandering for votes... Her track record for telling the truth is a great example.

I can see reimbursing college graduates who got a good 3.0 or higher GPA and are working towards fields we need like medical, nursing, trades, engineers, etc. I'll gladly pay taxes for that.

The idiot with a gender studies degree, however, should have to shell out their own cash for their mediocre college experience. Same goes for the nitwits who party through college and then dropout.

Unfortunately, paying out people's college also means corrupt rich kids and entitled asshats, Warren's voting base, would steal all potential free college spots from legitimately poor smart kids.

Since the government sucks at regulating the basics, paying out free everything isn't looking too good for the U.S. And you can't straw man this with other EU countries, since their populations are the size of a U.S. state and even then they have limitations in place... it's not a free for all.

While I understand financial institutions have been allowed to act like loan sharks, I certainly understand the dad's points, too. And a socialist band-aid plan to remedy practiced student loan abuses only ushers in new problems, i.e. students being told what field of studies they should take. Warren handled the man's concerns very disrespectfully. Of course, we can't expect better from a socialist.

No college debt should be forgiven. The individual went to college knowing full well what the cost is. They chose to do the dumb thing. No one forced it on them.

Meanwhile, trade schools cost no more than a few thousand dollars and last, depending on the trade, a year or less and you get a good paying trade job right out of graduation. And you pay it of within a year.

Specious counter argument.

First, these are students, not businesses, so there's no valid comparison between the two.

Second, these students are not filing for bankruptcy. They're simply being given money for no reason other than a bunch of socialists desperately pandering to them for their votes.

In addition to the great example mentioned by this gentlemen who confronted Fauxahontas, what if someone WORKED at a JOB while they were going to school, so they wouldn't have student loan debt when they graduated... do they get reimbursed? If so, how far back? (that second question is more of a personal inquiry... hehehe...)

The bottom line here, is that as usual, the Dems are pandering for votes. It would be pathetically humorous, if it weren't going to cost the country so much money.

The comparison is direct. Debt forgiveness in any context has a long history of development, and we don't even think about why we do things the way we do today.

The purpose of bankruptcy is to allow skilled professionals to continue participating in the economy in a fair, managed way, because even if their business failed, they have skills and experience that won't be good to anyone of they lose everything they earn for the rest of their life to creditors who wouldn't see their debt settled anyway.

Bankruptcy is not an assignment of blame. It is not a form of punishment for people not filing for bankruptcy. It is not free money for the person filing. It is just court management of a problem for people who need to get on with their lives.

The same logic should apply directly to student debt in every way. It's wonderful that 18 year olds are borrowing money too invest in their future but some investments just don't work out, and the more unsustainable toxic debts should be dissolved once it's mathematically clear that the person needs to move on. Any objection about how unfair that is to people who had a better investment with their college is bullshit: those people are having an easier time of things already.
