The process is to hand it to the Senate which she isn't doing.

if she had said that, which she didn't, she would have been correct. this Senate is hopelessly Party-oriented, hoo boy.

What about the impeachment vote? Not a single Republican voted “Aye”. Is that partisan that democrats impeached him?

i would say no. when the evidence is clear ("Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing"; "do us a favor"; instructing officials not to comply with federal subpoenas; publicly promising ahead of time to pardon officials who break federal laws), when there's no doubt as to the conduct, it's easy to imagine a unanimous vote. yet it was split along part lines.

Do you really think foreign nations hold back on spying until permission is given? Or maybe that Trump was joking?
[deleted]

this is not about what foreign nations do or don't do. it's about what Trump has done and continues to do. was he joking? i didn't think so at the time and nothing he's done since has made me think otherwise. i truly believe, based on what we've all seen, that Trump is a huge danger to the country. you seem to truly believe that he's some kind of great knight with little real tarnish. but try this: try imaging all those same scenarios, but carried out by Hillary. then what would you think of her?
2 ups, 5y,

I'd think Hillary went soft. Remember when an ambassador and 2 others got murdered under her watch? Using a private server passing classified intel then deleting 30,000 emails under subpoena? The Libya debacle? Buying fake foreign intel to interfere in an election?

Obama sent the IRS after the Tea party. Spied on a presidential campaign after FBI lies in the FISA court. Fast and Furious. That's impeachable actions.

why aren't they indicted or even under current investigation?

Maybe because Republican congressmen are more interested in running the country than trying to reverse the results of an election.

The only part of the impeachment vote that was bipartisan was the votes AGAINST impeachment.

your question was 'is it partisan that democrats impeached him?' i'm saying no, they impeached him based on the evidence. i'm *not* saying they're not partisan. i'm sure they are. but what's plainly partisan is that no republicans were able to 'see' the evidence in the same way. (they saw it, of course, but they've got to put on their show)

i don't think either impeachment was stupid. you do the crime, you should expect to pay a price.

so that part of the process still works well enough. it's the trial that fails.

clinton was disgraceful, but not a threat to the country, so they let him off. Trump is a big risk, and they know it, but they'll let him go too. then we'll all have to pay for it when it blows up.

When the evidence comes in on the Heard-It-Through-The-Grapevine system, reasonable people don't pretend it is a risk.

That's not what impeachment is for. To air evidence.
[deleted]

my understanding is that impeachment is part of a process for removing a criminal from office. during the process, evidence is aired. the criminal may be convicted immediately by the Senate, or later in the court of voter opinion.

Well, if such claims make for concrete proof, then Pelosi should send that "evidence" on over to the Senate just as it is. She has said numerous times that the Congress has acted in the interests of what the voters want and what they deserve. If she honestly believes this then she should let the proper procedures continue by turning over the articles to the Senate. Voters put them into office, too. In trying to dictate and alter established procedure she contradicts her own claims of caring about voters.

i'm sorry for putting it that way. that was not nice of me. i just get frustrated with so many of you never changing your opinions.

you're an eloquent person and your rules of logic are sound. it's your assumptions that take you off course. you seem to believe that Nancy is an enemy of the people. i don't see any reason to believe that. she is an enemy of Trump, who's fooling a lot of people. do you think she's aiming to win a conviction in the Senate? she knew from the beginning that Mitch would work hard to prevent that. i think all she wants is a detailed review of the evidence, out in the open for all to see. that's how she can win the fight. not conviction now, but failure for Trump at the polls in 2020. the core pro-Trump voters will stick by him, but he'll lose a lot of swing voters. the same is true for the senators who support acquittal despite damning evidence. maybe it won't be a major victory, but it may be enough to reclaim the Senate majority. we'll see.

"sometimes you seem so smart and sometimes you're like a completely difft person."

Yeah well, you've shown me I'm not alone in that :)
[deleted]
0 ups, 5y
i disagree. she anticipates that Mitch is being honest in promising a speedy trial and certain acquittal, so she's doing what she can to compel a proper hearing of the evidence.

What part of the telephone conversation Trump had with Zelensky is a risk or threat to the country?

If you’re saying he’s a risk in general then you’re admitting that the whole impeachment has nothing to do with what the Dems are accusing him of and it’s just an attempt to prevent him from getting elected a 2nd term. Talk about an abuse of power . . .
