Then I'd tell you to take another look at the polls which show independents are against impeachment by double digit margins.

Independent voters aren't a party, they're a group of people(millions) who are willing to vote either rep or dem or for a third party depending on how they feel about the current state of things. That you disregard them as unimportant just shows you've got no clue when it comes to national elections.

Don't be too hard on Democrats. They had a real tough decision to make. Impeachment was the path of less resistance.

We're capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time. Republicans are loudly proclaiming that Trump is at its highest levels ever because of impeachment. Not according to the polling data I've seen, which has shown basically static support for months.

We'll see how it plays out -- the Dems in the House and Senate will be doing their constitutional duty, and the Dems on the campaign trail will be running to beat your guy.

The meme is a parody take on Democrats knowing their chances of winning the election is low. It's not to be taken literally as an either or fallacy. Why not both? They can do both, but the likelihood of either succeeding is low. Even if Trump is impeached - he will certainly be exonerated in the Republican controlled senate.

In regards to static support for months. The polling data prior to the 2016 election showed Hilary winning with certainty. I don't put a whole lot of weight into polls - especially when they're being conducted by organizations with clear political bias.

Yes, we'll see, but I suspect it will go exactly how I've just described it. Trump will be impeached in the house, exonerated in the senate, and the American public will see the impeachment hearings for the partisan clown show that they are and reelect president Trump by an even wider margin than the first time.
