Better yet, let’s make armed robbery legal. Then the crime rate will go down.

I heard some guy from Baltimore gave an interview and that while he usually disagrees with Trump, he can't that Trump is wrong. He also said that he didn't really like Cummings either, but couldn't put all the blame on him.

To be fair, most large cities have a rat problem. On Orkin's top 10 rattiest city list is Chicago, LA, NY, DC, San Francisco, Detroit, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Baltimore and Denver. Trump's comments are accurate. He may be a dick, but he's not racist.

I know he isnt racist, Real racist dont want to share a drinking fountain, let alone want to marry a black woman as in trumps case. She turned him down

I was just about to contradict you, but after a little googling....

Your first point is incorrect. Not all predominately black countries are shitholes. However... there isn't a single predominately black country that meets the CIA's requirements to be considered a first world country. Ouch.

Your second point is also incorrect. Black peoples aren't limited to an IQ of only 80. That's stupid to assume. However... the average IQ's of black Africans do fall into that range which is about ten points lower than their white counterparts. Ouch.

Facts aren't always politically correct, I guess... Personally, I'd try to avoid bringing that stuff up unless it was necessary. Stating facts can be inappropriate at times. I'm thinking of Sheldon from The Big Bang as an example of why it's sometimes better to just keep that kind of stuff quiet unless it brings something useful to the table.

IQ tests are known to be bunk.

If the same test is given and then one person scores lower than another, it's a fair assessment. Especially at scales of hundreds or thousands of people.

I've seen the conclusion of a study done at a university in South Africa that showed the black population averaging ten points lower than their white counterparts. It was a fair test imo.

No it's not. Those tests assess an intelligence model that's been outdated by over fifty years. Someone who scores low on an IQ test may just have not been exposed to the concepts being tested, or just doesn't care about those things, but might still be brilliantly intelligent in ways not being measured.

IQ tests are little more than gauges on how much you've been paying attention in school generally so are a mark of how far you've progressed in a standardized education model - but then question then becomes, is our curriculum set out the right way?

IQ as a metric was met with mixed feelings when it was first proposed 80 years ago and since then, evidence supporting it has only gone downhill. Today, it's considered little more than a pop psychology toy. If anyone's scoring lower on an IQ test it doesn't mean anything - it just means the test wasn't geared towards the group that scored lower, and that could be any number of things.

I'll see if I can find the link. I don't think that IQ test even had questions with words. It used patterns.

Welp...

I found an article that had the link to the video. Apparently YouTube decided that a fair scientific study is.... RACIST! Damn those inconvenient facts!

Well, your case isn't looking very strong from my point of view if you don't mind me saying so.

But look, the problem is that intelligence is not a linear thing. It's more like a web of different abilities going in different directions. If you asked Vincent Van Gough to derive mass-energy conversion and Albert Einstein to paint a sunflower, neither would do particularly well at their tasks - not because they're stupid, but because their tasks don't give an expression of their respective geniuses.

The test was based on patterns - so what? That just measures how much practice and training they have had in spotting patterns. And are the schools making it a point to prioritize pattern recognition? And we're talking about South Africa; segregationism there didn't end until living memory - I'm a fairy young man and even I can remember when South Africa was run with the intent of giving different experiences. What effect is THAT going to have on pattern recognition?

No. It's bunk. Science hasn't taken IQ seriously in a long time.

The test seemed fair to me. They were college level students taking the exact same exam. It's not an isolated event either. I'd say there is a pattern.

The way I see it is that IQ is like a muscle. The more you use a muscle the stronger it gets. The more you practice using your ability to use your intelligence to solve problems, the better you get at it.

Schooling gives people the opportunity to use their intelligence and strengthen their IQ. Better schools get bigger brain gains. It makes sense that Africa and other poor countries have lower IQ's because their schooling isn't as good.

You can say it's unfair but it it's not because the test is unfair. It's that life dropped these people into disadvantaged circumstances. Africans from Africa on average either don't get the opportunity to exercise their IQ or choose not to take advantage of the opportunities they have been given, in my opinion. Therefore their IQs will be lower when tested with the same test as their white counterparts.

It's a cultural thing more than a racial thing, I think. I heard that in Germany black people score almost identically to their white counterparts because they lack the gangsta sub culture that's pervasive in the USA. I expect that Africa has a similar problem although it may take form very differently.

Found the video I was talking about, I think.

It's not a good test. I'm telling you, it's been discredited over and over again. Again, if Albert Einstein and Vincent Van Gough were both told to each compose a symphony, they're being given the exact same test but at a guess I'd say Van Gough might fare slightly better just because he was briefly training to be in the clergy and that may have exposed him a bit more to music theory than Einstein had been.

I don't know what else to tell you! If you wanted a seven year old to ace an IQ test, it's not that hard to teach to that test - and advantaged schools love teaching to the tests they know their kids are going to get, which they get to see because one of the advantages is their connections to the people who set them; but that just doesn't give a good picture. Some people just don't care for pattern recognition until they're well into adulthood, if they ever care about it at all. Things don't equalize as soon as you hit college. It just doesn't work that way. Certainly not in South Africa.

As for linking US black education with gangster culture, I'm not touching that racist assed shit with a sixty foot poll.
0 ups, 5y
It's a combination of factors. Music, media, everyone else is doing it.

I think the difference between Judas Priest and a lot of rap music is how realistic the violence is. Not very many people are going to go all out for meathook sodomy (that's cannibal corpse) but Shooting someone cuz you're bad and don't give f**k has become the reality for black youth. White kids like high energy metal, maybe that's why they get hyped up to do stupid things like jump off of roofs into random stuff and die accidentally more than the other ethnicities.

Idk what makes people do what they do. I do know that gang culture is toxic. I do know that black kids kill each other at a shocking rate. There's a correlation, of course there is. I can't say it's any one thing because it's the culture and culture means a lot of things. Music, tv, hobbys, morals, role models, etc. It's all of it. It's not race, because as I said, Germany doesn't have this problem with their black community because they lack the gang culture.

Are you trying to imply that their scores are lower because they're black and it's not the culture? You are a troll so the full circle makes sense.

White teenagers imitate the black gangster culture, but they sure aren't part of it. White kids try to act that way because it's cool and they see it on TV. They'd get their asses beat or worse if they tried to pull that act off in a real inner city ghetto. Dressing up like a gangster doesn't make them gangsters. It makes them children playing dress up.

Deny it all you want. Gang culture is a poison to black society. From the ages of 15-35 the leading cause of death for black men is homocide. Tell me the gang culture isn't responsible for that.

Their scores are lower because their schools are literally falling apart from lack of resources.

America is a place where you can have a full-time job and still not have any money. If your high school is in no shape to put you into college, and if going to college wouldn't get you ahead anyway, and stacking shelves at Wal-Mart isn't going to help you out, what do you think is going to happen?

That's not racist at all. Are you denying that toxic culture exists? Have you heard the music? You realize that subculture is the most likely to murder someone? That subculture pushed by the entertainment industry is the biggest problem and poison facing black people in this country today.

Not all black people are into that culture but those that are drag scores down for the rest of the demographic. If there was a way to filter out scores from that subculture I'd bet the scores would make a huge leap up.

Anyone who has contact with teenagers will tell you that white teenagers are just as fascinated with the gangster aesthetic that comes out of Hollywood. Where's the complaint about the impact that has on their education? Where are their lower test scores?

I agree with your point about overcoming the obstacles. However, you started at education and I believe there's a problem that comes before that.

It's the culture. The school may lack the resources but let's be real, the kids don't do their part either. The emphasis isn't put on succeeding in school. It's on having money without any explanation of how to get it legally and getting the hoes.

Music targeted to white teens has a lot of references to never giving up and chasing dreams. Music targeted to black teens is about money, violence, using people for sex, and drugs. I know there's a little bit of both on both sides but it's definitely weighted the way I put it.

The gang culture ruins children before they have a chance. As soon as they hit puberty they start killing each other. Once they're in high school half of the kids that die do so because someone killed them. No other ethnic group comes close to that. Hispanics have low incomes and come from impoverished communities. Native Americans are super disadvantaged. It's clearly a cultural thing.

I don't understand - is it the music or not? Is it the media or the real-world environment? If you can make your mind up, then I can deal with your line of reasoning, but you can't switch between one or the other when it's convenient to you.

Violent video games? Loved them. Stick on GTA 3, head shots all round, start gang wars, make millions off of drugs, I was in class the next morning with my homework done on time, top student. Violent music? Judas Priest told me that Breaking The Law was good. My brother was into DMX, he was a top student. Violent movies? Up until 2.30 am before a test watching Scarface. Aced the test.

So are you going to bring that into this or not? Is that the conversation we're having or not? Are striking that off from the list of causes or not? I'm not into this nonsense of having it there but not really because it's not your point but it kind of is.
