They won't because of the persistent "common sense" myth that wages and inflation are connected. As in "If I have to pay my workers more, I'll have to charge more so that means YOU will be paying more..."
That's actually not true, it's actually inverse. According to the Labor Dept. wages in the US flatlined in 1978. You make about 4% more than you would have made doing the same job in 1978.
That's not including inflation. You literally get paid about 4% more than what you would have been paid in 1978.
So, your 1978 wage with modern inflation your buying power is drastically reduced, which means you purchase less.
In turn, that means to maintain their profits and income, businesses have to charge MORE because their goods or services are being purchased less often. Instead of selling 1,000 tv's at $100 they can only sell 100 TV so they have to charge $1000.
So, if you want American workers to be paid more- either elect representatives that will mandate it from the top down or join a union to force the business to pay more from the ground up.
