On the surface that sounds like a good idea, and of course your intended irony is that murder is illegal already. However, statistics show that countries that make access to guns more difficult have less gun deaths. The question then becomes how to balance the freedom to own guns with reasonable gun control to reduce the amount of gun deaths. The NRA used to be all about reasonable gun control, but then something changed and now they seem to be against any kind of controls at all.

and I'd be willing to bet Regions with a high population of Eunuchs have a lower rate of Pregnancy... but You getting castrated doesn't stop Me from getting 10 women pregnant (my personality does that)

Yeah, but you being a lone gunman ends with your death in your first and last shooting spree in a country where such is astronomically rarer than in the USA to begin with, guns or no guns.

Way more deaths from cars lol

Less gun deaths, but is their murder rate any lower?
I’m guessing the statistics include accidental shootings. Just because someone can’t get a gun won’t stop them from committing murder.

Yeah it is. Look at Switzerland. Might be the most armed place in tbe world. Every man women and child has a gun there. Yet they have had no mass shootings in decades. Perhaps exerting some sort of control on guns might prove to be beneficial

The UK has strict gun control, yet London has a higher murder rate than NY City. It also has more terrorist attacks. Banning guns may stop murders committed using a gun, but it will not stop murders.

That is the problem. You are going after the wrong thing. If you want to stop murder, you need to address the reasons people commit murder, not the weapon they use. Remove one weapon, and they will just use another, a truck, a bomb, a knife, etc.

People go after guns because it is easy, but it does nothing other than make you feel like you did something. Gun control is a "feel good" law, not a "do good" law.

While there is certainly a truth to it, exerting stricter Gun Control would help to drastically reduce mass shootings and help reduce the violence. I agree that Guns are not the only problem, but it would go a long way.

In the last 30 years, the number of guns U.S. has tripled, yet gun violence has gone down. If guns were the problem, you would know it.

You are going after one tool used by criminals, rather than the criminals. Look at London, they outlawed guns, and murders and terrorism continued. Then they outlawed knives, now it is acid, or bombs, or trucks. Nothing changed. They have the highest murder rates in their history. Higher than NYC.

Murder is already illegal and carries the highest penalties in the country, much higher than any gun law. Has that stopped anyone?

Crazy people will just use a bomb or a truck or some other tool. Not one gun law so far has ever stopped a crime or prevented a mass killing.

As I said, gun laws are feel-good laws, not do good laws, they neither solve nor prevent anything. We need more done on mental health issues, following up on red flags in schools, better police follow-up on reported suspicious activity and enforcing the laws we already have. Most of the mass murders in the last few years have all had warnings that were missed by law enforcement. Most of the perpetrators should not have been able to own a gun in the first place under existing law.

You will never convince me that gun laws deter criminals or determined crazies. All they do is annoy and infringe on the rights of law-abiding citizens who are generally not the problem.

Look. The point is to generally stop easy access to Guns for criminals and the such. If you want your son to stop stealing from the cookie jar, you don't leavethe cookie jar out in the open you make it inconvinent for him to access. It'll not stop him for long true if he is determined, but it'll defiantly reduce his theft of cookies. Now I agree, that anyone determined enough could build a bomb, but its not nearly as easy as buying a gin from your local Walmart and going on a shooting spree. Look at Australia, after a mass shooting in the 60s the Australian government introduced stricter gun laws. How many mass shootings have there been since then? Almost none. Gun Laws work to keep down Gun Violence. They are not a problem solver, but definitely a patch

Although gun tragedies are ....tragic. we simply can't afford to pass more gun laws. The whole point of having guns is to insure that the people keep power over the country. To many laws laws are preventing citizens from owning guns ie.... non violent felonies, anyone who has been on psych meds, red flags, even a simple fist fight . Its imperative that we keep the majority of the people armed. We must learn from the past and never allow the government to have more power than the people. We can't trade liberty for security or we'll end up with neither. Far more people die from heart disease but they're not trying to close mcds. Bad guys are bad guys, it doesn't matter what laws are passed that's why theyre bad guys. More laws simply impinge average Americans from getting guns, and that's our goal, to arm as many Americans as possible

Ah ha. I have every victim of a Mass shooting here and they all disagre with you.

"The whole point of having guns is to insure that the people keep power over the country."

Well, yes. Thats a good point. But lets not forget that there is a direct correlation between Freedom of Guns and Gun Violence. The more one has access to them the more gun violence there is. I am not saying we should ban Guns, I am saying stricter measures are installed like licenses and background checks. I can understand the hesitance to impose stricter gun laws, but this Gun Freedom is being abused by ne'er do wellers. I say a compromise is needed to keep enough power in the hands of the people, but to also stop Criminals from getting guns.

Once again...small numbers. Try focusing on issues that matter. Say car wrecks or heart disease. in the end , it's the masses that will decide, and they want to keep their guns.
0 ups, 5y
Thats a direct Democracy. The United States is a Representative Democracy. The people elect representatives who make laws and enforce them and yadda yadda.

Point is the masses don't decide law. Be that as it may, Gun violence is an Issue that matters. Hundred of Thausands die due to Gun Violence. It us a serious issue that needs to be Tackled and not overlooked.

It does need to be addressed. But keep it smart, make sure that the majority of Americans have guns. At the moment those numbers are dwindling.

I suppose that perhaps some sort of Mandatory Gun traing may be issued? Much like Switzerland, perhaps? Though I think introducing Mandatory military Service might be a bit too much
