Finally someone with common sense. Getting sick of twats confusing Liberals with Leftists. I'm definitely in the moderate, forward looking progressive camp.
Example: This public transport system needs a major overhaul, but instead of the government fixing it, let's work with local companies and private investors to fix it. At the same time, instead of banning cars, let's work with companies to improve the current models to make them more fuel efficient and less emitting, and give economic incentives for making hybrid or electric cars.
Another example: While we should have good relations with Russia, have good trade deals with China, and peace on the Korean Peninsula, the leaders of these respective areas should definitely be held accountable for their actions. Good relations with Russia is all well and good, but when they pull a Crimea, there will be consequences of the economic and political variety. Good trade with China is desirable, but we must draw the line at the theft of intellectual property or similar actions, and if they do happen, trade will be limited. Peace on the Korean Peninsula is a noble goal, but if Kim-Jong-Un does not live up to a peace deal, there will be economic consequences, and if he threatens war, we put surface-to-air missile defense systems in the region to protect our regional allies, regardless of what China says.
Last one: Stop allying ourselves with powers in the Middle East that violate human rights. Why sanction Iran for killing homosexuals and women for being who they are, when we ally ourselves with countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, countries that do the exact same things? Plus, allying ourselves with them goes against what the USA stands for; Freedom and democracy for all peoples throughout the world.
I'm sorry if I bored you.
