You are correct. I thought we you were referring to income tax only since I believe that is what the op was talking about. Sorry for the confusion.

The OP posted a picture of (I think) Thomas Jefferson. There was no income tax then. The only taxes were purchase taxes. Taxation/representation had ONLY to do with purchase taxes/tariffs. In that case ANYONE that buys ANYTHING should have the right to vote.
