I believe that whatever is trending generally finds it's way to imgflip in the way of an altered meme. Everyone seems to be in a rush to make that one special meme that goes viral, even if it was just stolen off social media. I don't know what morning is anymore because of all the time zones this site gets hit from, but it makes sense that people would be making them before having to go to work... assuming some of these peeps actually have jobs.

That makes sense, yeah. But is there really only 1 for them to do a variant of? And why are people upvoting multiples of essentially the same meme? Witness the plethroa of Pelosi/Wicked With of the East memes & gifs, nearly the entire front page on onwards?
In terms of time zones, many claim to be American, yet start posting in the wee am hours. Sure, some might get up early, but it makes more sense if they were on the other side of the Atlantic.
