Have you heard of the Battle of Wizna? It is a WW2 battle where around 720 Polish troops held off over 42,000 Germans. It is also called the Polish Thermopylae. The polish soldiers was in fortified bunkers and severely outnumbered and outgunned. But that did not stop them from fighting, they even managed to shoot down a bomber plane.
http://www.gutstein.net/wizna/battleofwizna.htm

If you want to look it up on YouTube the band Sabaton made a very good song about them called 40:1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnFSb8xcmN4

And regarding tunnels, you can dig tunnels but it is likely your army will sustain casualties not to mention give the defenders time for support to arrive. Like at the second Battle of Vienna. The Turks tried digging under the walls to place mines but in the end they failed to take Vienna. If there was no wall and the forces garrisoned at Vienna had to meet the Turks in open field they probably would have lost.

It can not be denied that walls contribute to slowing or stopping the enemy.

Will our security officers be prepared to shoot down a Mexico City-New York passenger jet?

Casualties, no matter how many, didn't stop the Transcontinental Railroad from being built.

"Will our security officers be prepared to shoot down a Mexico City-New York passenger jet?"

No but I bet they can shoot down a red herring. I was talking about enemy soldiers. Not passenger jets where I presume the passengers have passed background checks and other security protocol.

I had to Google "Transcontinental railroad deaths to understand what you meant since I am ignorant on the subject.
According to this website :https://www.damfirm.com/human-cost-construction/
The Suez Canal suffered 100 times as many casualties the same year as the Transcontinental Railroad. So it seems you are correct, no matter the casualties the construction will be completed.
Both was in 1869
In 1943 roughly 106,000 people perished building the Burma-Siam Railway and they was POWs taken by the Japs.

But that information really has nothing to do with tunnels and enemies / criminals slipping in.

I admit I am somewhat disappointed. At first glance I thought I got a decent reply but then I see it is mostly a copy and paste of what I wrote. And then I see your reply has little to do with my comment.

Just say you are vehemently against building the damn wall and no one can change your opinion. I will respect that.

When I was talking about passenger planes, I was hinting at the illegals in them. A percentage of illegals actually do travel by plane to get into America.

"But that information really has nothing to do with tunnels and enemies / criminals slipping in."

The illegal immigrants who desire to get in will stop at nothing to get in. If the walls get built and they can't climb, then they'll either take a tunnel that's already built or make a new one.

"Just say you are vehemently against building the damn wall and no one can change your opinion. I will respect that."

I will say that I am against the wall because I think it'll end up being a waste of government money. I think immigrants should come in legally because there would be less trouble for those who do. However, the wall isn't going to convince anyone to come in legally as it may convince tunnel-building.

"I was hinting at the illegals in them. A percentage of illegals actually do travel by plane to get into America."

My mistake. I am used to people taking what I say and drawing up a different conclusion. I did not know that happens but it seems possible. Since they come in that way it makes me wonder how good our background checking is? How do illegals get on a plane anyways? I thought one needed visas or something to legalize it? I really don't know much about airport security.

"The illegal immigrants who desire to get in will stop at nothing to get in."

I agree. The determined will try hard to get in and frankly I wouldn't be surprised if they take their children and stand there all day in the heat to stir public outrage at their "oppression". But the wall will make it more difficult to enter.

"I think it'll end up being a waste of government money."

I do not know enough about it to argue against that one. You very well may be right. Theoretically I can see how it will work, but we have so many people determined for it not to work. I can also see them making it not work in one way or another. It's sad to think that national security may have to be dismissed in favor of appeasing part of the country. But when that country is so against working together that they say things like "Would rather see America fail than to help Trump". Then they should be regarded as traitors.

I don't think it will encourage illegal entry anymore than an open border that makes illegal entry so easy. Trouble makers could use that reason as an excuse but I can't see good honest folk being changed by a wall. Surely it will have gates or something where people can enter legally right? So they would still be able to enter legally. If anything there should be no confusion as to where you go to enter legally. But I don't know the plans, maybe gates will not be built...?

All of this tunnel talk makes me think of the movie Act of Valor where terrorists was going to enter the US through tunnels in Mexico. I do not know if such tunnels exist but if they do I don't see why they can't be blocked. And in regards to building new ones with the technology we have I guess I assume there is ways to tell where tunnels are being built. I mean we can pick up earthquakes way below the Earth's crust, would tunnel digging be any different? IDK.

Well maybe when we have actual soldiers coming towards the border and not families seeking asylum then maybe you’ll actually have a case to make for a wall.

3000 terrorists have been caught trying to cross with families. Many more thousands of human traffickers and drug smugglers have been caught.

There's the case that's going to be used to call the state of emergency if congress doesn't give Trump what he wants.

That's because Fake News exists.

That article is extremely misleading and even has clues about how full of lies it is.

Pelosi: "I reject your facts"

"There are no terrorist organizations operating inside of Mexico". No there aren't, that's not the point. People travel through Mexico, which does not have a travel ban, to get to the US.

"...probably made because of Trumps travel ban"

"It's very unlikely that 4000 people from the terrorist watch list have been apprehended.."

Those two quotes aren't facts! Their blatant opinions being passed off as expert testimony!

The truth does not come easy. Watch the President actually speak and take questions from reporters. Then compare that to the fake news and tell me what's rooted in reality.

The Alamo is the first "last stand" battle I learned about.
There is little that excites me more than learning about a battle involving a much smaller force taking on a larger force.
I shall like to participate in one before I die. In fact I shall like to die fighting in that manner, against a much larger force, in a last stand.
The only other way I would prefer to die is in the arms of the woman I love. But since I do not have a special lady friend ....

And it took a cannon to break down the wall. If the wall had stayed intact they could have kept up the resistance for as long as they needed to.

Walls work. Openings in the wall Don't.
