Maybe your right they might want to protect their reputation by using an alt to post more controversial content like those who post anonymously in politics. But still it seems a little weird not my style anyway.

Yeah, but it seems like something only a coward would do. Hiding behind an avatar to get into political discussion. I've always stood for my political colors, and yeah, I've been ridiculed for that by people who don't know their stuff. Only a few who disagree with me do so in a DECENT way, oh well... perhaps that explains an alternate account. Now I do know one thing... creating alt accounts may protect you against normal users, but not against moderators. And upvoting your own stuff (not counting sites where you automatically upvote your own posts) feels to me like masturbating in public. Oh well...

Yeah I agree. I don't mind expressing my opinions about politics where I see suitable if people don't agree then that's fine. I don't see the need to create an alternative account just to do so. If people feel they need to do that then maybe they don't have too much faith in their own opinions. This site for me is just a bit of fun I'm not concerned with how many upvotes I get. Upvoting your own memes just seems a little desperate.

Have heard of this memer, but I do not know what he did.

He did just that with a bunch of accounts and basically got 'thrown out' by the community so i wouldnt recommend doing it.
You can still see his memes though.

I figure he must have been caught with a slip-up. I have seen some accounts that are suspiciously similar to regular users. I never call them on it, but I do pass them by and tend to ignore the users activity when I suspect. You just never know who is nice to you under one account, then trolling you from their alt.

According to Imgflip administration...They supposedly implemented an algorithm about a year ago that is supposed to prevent users from using alts to upvote their own memes to the front page anymore...I did notice that when it was implemented, a bunch of people that used to get on the front page a lot suddenly stopped getting on the front page...Maybe that was coincidence or maybe not...Who knows for sure?

I know other people do that, it's sad. I know of one user who does this for sure. Again it's very sad that they'd rather upvote themselves than participate in the community.
