Please tell me what borders and border checks these cities have to isolate them from other States with lax guns laws?

But then why do those places with lax gun control not have high gun crime? Could it be when you don't know who's armed, it's a deterrent to committing crime?

Well if owning guns and carrying them was a deterrent, then why does the US has some of the highest crime rates, including violent crime in the developed world?

Yeah, that comes from the rate of crime in gun free zones. Check places where it's open carry and most places have low crime. Switzerland has very liberal gun laws and it's extremely safe. And I also believe London banned guns and more people there were murdered last year than NYC, although not with guns, as they never had to deal with 300 million guns owned by the public like the US.

nope, not correct, up until Feb 2018 more people were murdered in London than New York, but for the rest of the year NY took its rightful place......

Open carry like Texas? Let me think, errm, no mass shootings apart from the one at a Church, (26 dead including a baby), Fort Hood, (13 dead), Fort Hood again (13 dead), Sante Fe Highschool, (10 dead). What strikes me in a state that allows open carry all this mass shootings happen, two at a military base!

I stand corrected, thx.
I was talking more about robbery, car jackings and the like than your nutcase snapping and doing a mass shooting like those. Overall crime is (mostly) lower in places where criminals know their target may be armed.

And correct me if I'm wrong, are not most guns used in crime in these places bought illegally anyway?
1 up, 6y,
1 reply
Yep, but America is so awash with guns and ammo it is easy to buy guns. Trying being a criminal in Japan and getting hold of a gun, it is very, very difficult. Probably why they don't have many shootings...

You've just explained why a gun ban wouldn't matter. The amount of guns that would be available on the black market would just ensure that law abiding citizens would be helpless before gun totting criminals, in my opinion.
0 ups, 6y
On that point I agree, if some form of gun control was enacted it would take a generation to get all the guns off the street as there are so many currently. However, if you want to cure the disease you have to start somewhere, rather than just living with the illness in perpetuity.

You'd probably get down voted by the 2 or 3 liberal trills with alternate accounts.

They work exactly as intended. To make sure that only criminals and government (sorry I repeat myself) are armed.

Gun control laws work about as well as the laws that prohibit Cocaine, LSD, Herione, etc. We once had laws prohibition laws against alcohol, and those laws caused bigger problems than the alcohol. Those laws led to very powerful organized crime syndicates.

Yes lets just deregulate Hand grenades too, surely that will lower the death toll from them.

Yet while stats were not kept, it's know prohibition basically drove hospital admissions for alcohol related illnesses down to zero.

Weird, huh?

Seriously? With all of the bad bathtub gin being made and consumed. With people ingesting wood alcohol from a quick bootleg sale? Kindly check out the reality of history.

That's not alcohol related illness, that's poison.

Hard to main your alcoholism when the stuff is difficult to get a constant supply of and pricey. Not many bartenders open to having their clientele wandering the streets drunk and drawing attention to them by getting into accidents and causing other mayhem.
Some dumb hicks killing themselves on grandpappy's bungled juice is backwoods stuff.

That's reality.

So you are saying that during prohibition, there was no good alcohol being smuggled into the United States and because of no good alcohol being smuggled hospital admissions went down to zero? I live on the US/Canada border. I know of "Logging roads" that cross into Canada. I put "Logging roads: in quotes because a great many of those roads were never used for logging. They were used to bring Grade-A Canadian spirits into the United States. And some of those beverages were consumed in a responsible manner. And others were consumed in a self abusive manner. Hospital admissions down to zero? That's quite a stretch that simply is not true at all.
0 ups, 6y
Ahh, so you're going by memory? That's awesome.
People were smuggling stuff from Nooneliveshereyet Alberta to Oxnuts Montana on their mules and selling it on the cheap?

[My comment was supposed to say "near zero," but basically...]

What if I told you, if you keep repeating a lie it doesn't make it become true. Research school shootings in the US and Australia and the subsequent guns laws that were enacted and the now lack of dead kids in mass school shootings in those countries, as opposed to regular dead kids appearing on the news in America due to s

so you're going to use a country that had 18m people and only 650,000 guns when its gun control laws went into effect as an example for gun control laws in these united states? let me guess, you're the type of guy that goes whaling with a bucket of shrimp because it works when fishing for snook...

Notice how the murder rate was unaffected? Yeh, good job gun ban.

Criminals are still using guns. Good job gun ban.

Mind posting the knife violence chart too?

The argument is regulations work, the chart proves it. And you just proved you are a complete imbecile. congrats.

Not according to that chart. If regulations worked, the murder rate would be significantly lower, not constantly the same
