Actually moves to curb that - such as raising the drinking age from18 to 21, check points, public campaigns (designated driver, carpooling) etc - have significantly dented that number.

You may want to read the bottom of the meme.

You may want to read the TOP of the meme. You know, the DRUNK driving part?
Next time, leave that out to make your (non) point correctly.

You may want to actually go back and re-read the 2018 part of the meme. The drunk driving part is used as a comparison to the driver vs the vehicle being responsible for the crime.

Once AI and automatic cars are good enough, it will be illegal to drive on public roads, period.

Or take a page out Texas law books and allow teachers who already have a concealed carry license to take a more intensive training and become a school marshall. This is an ancillary duty on top of their teaching role. Placement of these school marshalls allows for a far shorter response time for a good person with a gun to challenge the bad person with a gun, or any other weapon.

I have argued for this to happen for years.

Unfortunately, too many everyday people break the law and get away with it. Slumlords break housing regs, car salesmen sell shody products, bankers steal from customers on too frequently, and let us not forget gobernment officials that often feel they are above the law

This is true. The argument from some people is that more gun laws will reduce gun crime. I'm waiting to hear a compelling argument about how that would work.

Typical response. The argument from the gun grabbers is that more laws will somehow prevent mass shootings. Since you seem to be (ahem) rational, would you mind explaining which new law these criminals will obey?

But I'm agreeing with you.

Laws are passed to prevent people from doing not-so-nice-things. To date, those things are still being done. Even the Gods have given up on all that cute smoting and rivers flowing with blood stuff.

Repeal ALL laws. If they could work, we wouldn't need them in the first place.
Their very existence proves their fallibility.

I don't think that would be a workable idea because it would be anarchy without a system of laws.

Laws aren't workable. The legal system isn't workable.

Gun work. Guns shoot.

No laws, just guns. Shoot all the bad guys as they come.

I have to agree with that.

1. Semi-automatic rifles are not "assault weapons."

2. You have no say in it, you don't even love here.

3. Come and take them.

Good luck with that. I have...let's country, shall we?...12 weapons that you would consider "assault weapons" in my home. Better put on a diaper because I'm about to make you wet yourself...

- Four AR-15 style rifles or variants.
- Two Bulgarian AK-47s
- Two TEC-9 pistols
- One Thompson
- One Daewoo DR-200
- One Dragunov SVDK sniper rifle
- One Lazzaroni 7.82 Warbird

Tho does not count the various handguns and sporting rifle that I have in my gun vault.

The point of all of this? You cannot take them. Any of them. You are welcome to try, but I assure you that you will fail miserably.

yes, it is. Me, I say give teachers the right to have tasers or pepper spray while in the school so security guards themselves have to run trying to catch some guy

I would say okay, somebody dropped the ball on that one. He should never have had a firearm of any type. But the big question is how do we keep the bad guys from getting them without making it harder for people like me to get them? New laws won't work because criminals, by definition, break laws.

Especially in the case of...wait for it...juveniles. Until recently I thought that the "we don't enforce the laws we have argument" was kind of weak. Between what I have seen in family court and of the course Parkland, it is stunningly true.

I do own revolvers and they have their place. Sometimes I do carry a revolver, other times I carry an auto. Depends on where I'm going, what I'm doing, and the type of clothing that I'm wearing. I can carry a small revolver while wearing shorts while even my smallest auto improving with a light shirt.

Also, my small frame revolvers are smaller and lighter than even my smallest auto. So if I'm going to be physically active I carry a revolver because it is easier for me to retain it. They just don't have the available firepower of my autos.
