I have been wanting that damned unconstitutional "individual mandate" to be done away with since it was passed. My family was eager to try to get health insurance, believing "Obama-care would make it affordable. Wrong! It would still cost us an arm and a leg for health insurance! Because we made too much it was going to cost a fortune to get health insurance. But being farmers, a great deal of our total income goes back into putting out crops for next year. In any case, it was significantly cheaper to pay the fine. In the end of the day the only ones Obama-care would help is people who do nothing and therefore make nothing. And if truth was told, doctors already take care of the poor people. If not why was my dad told, before Obama-care when he was having a Gallbladder removal, that he wouldn't have to pay anything if he had lower than X amount of money. But he had too much to qualify so he had to pay it. We didn't have insurance and it appeared they was going to pay it for him if he didn't have as much money as he did.
But the media doesn't tell that.
The media also doesn't tell about families that can't get affordable health insurance and now must pay a fine.
The media is also silent on the families with health insurance and the health insurance does nothing to help them when they have major issues.

It's all a racket!

Did they really get rid of the fines? I've been slammed with those as well. So much for the free health care program that got that asshole elected.

Funny how the budget deficit and national debt suddenly became an issue for Democrats after eight years of record deficit spending under the Obama administration. Why weren’t you concerned about it back then?

You get money. Obama increased the deficit by 100% and then forced every American to buy health care or pay fines. This tax cut, which will put money in every Americans pockets, only increased the deficit by about 5%. Worth it.

That's assuming 6% growth though, which is unsustainable if not unattainable. Realistically, it's going to add over 2 trillion to the deficit and be a net tax increase for the bottom 99% of taxpayers.

George W. raised the deficit 101% while Obama did raise the deficit by more dollars. Republicans always boast about Reagan. Sure the first year of his presidency he gave a massive tax cut to the top. But the following years he raised taxes again seeing that trickle down didn’t (and doesn’t) work. And some members of the middle class will end up paying more from the tax plan, so I’m not sure if every American is false generalization.

I really like 101%, had to 1up Obama didn't you? Fake info. Due to the destruction of the World Trade Center and entering a war the deficit actually increased by something more like 400%.

None of the middle class is going to pay more taxes. Nobody is going to pay higher taxes. It's unlikely this bill is going to change until Democrats can take over the government again.

sh added $5.849 trillion, a 101 percent increase from the $5.8 trillion debt at the end of Clinton's last budget, FY 2001. The Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq added about 1.8 trillion of the 5.8 trillion. So I really have no clue where you pulled the 400% from. And it wasn’t really a one up since your initial Obama number were incorrect (7.9 trillion or 68% of the deficit since the end of Bushs term).

But you’re probably right. Things won’t change until 2018 when a large chunk of the houses republicans are voted out. But hey at least you guys accomplished something in 2017. Happy New Year

To help the poor, we have to put faith (because faith is obviously the answer) in the rich because they'll obviously give money to the poor that the government willingly lets the rich have. Is there any idea that the government has the incentive of making the rich richer for the benefits that businessmen give them?

Several large companies have already given out raises and bonuses to all their employees. Look it up. :)

Of course people aren't going to like a tax bill that'll make taxes higher for those who 're already worse off. Saying that it's childish to care about the worse off is yet more proof that the capitalists are downright heartless.

that's not true, higher taxes for the poor provides a rewarding motivation to work harder and earn more money. The only reason people who can work don't is because they know the government will provide for them. Anyone who doesn't work hard gets taxed. People who do get rewarded. This is simple logic, I don't know why people can't see this
