I'm not in top 100 but 78 people upvoted my rainbow road pie chart. Of course, compare to some memes I've seen, 78 is not a lot of upvotes, but it was a huge amount for me.

I thought being on the leaderboard would really boost my memes. But I've found I actually have far fewer hit memes and fewer upvotes since being on the leaderboard. I guess because of all the downvote trolls

I never got any benefit from being on the leader board either but it was a goal anyway.

I've only been here a month and the only time I've ever down voted is by accident. I correct that right away. I've even up/down voted my own comments (and been told I'm silly).

The "downvote trolls" are not as prevalent as you might think. There are certain users who receive the majority of upvotes on here, but that's how it is for most sites. There are just those users who click with a lot of other users and get more attention than some. I am not one of those users and I'm in the top 10. lol

It's worse than you think. Even Isay, as popular as he is is having his memes downvoted back into submission. The only way he can prevent it is to get some of us to upvote them before they feature. No one should have to do that. Same thing with mine. I'm even having perfectly innocent comments on my own memes downvoted into low rated. That's the work of trolls.

An idea I had a while back was maybe making it harder to downvote back to submission. Right now, as far as I know, all you need is 2 downvotes and 0 upvotes to send it back to submission. It should be more like 5 or higher. The only time I downvote someone's meme is when they're being extremely rude and disrespectful and if their meme or comment breaks the Imgflip rules.

Yeah I'm the same way. I never downvote because I just don't like it or the memer. But for instance I downvoted one recently that was calling to "kill all the gays". That sort of crap needs to be removed. Not sure why it gets featured in the first place. But the down voting has more effect than just knocking something back to submission. It also kills the traction of a meme even if it stays featured.

I've had a couple front page memes get sent back to submit. Must have had a lot of downvotes or someone got butthurt and reported it. The more recent one wasn't even vulgar. lol

I take it all in stride. Yeah, sometimes it gets frustrating when my meme is on the top couple pages and doing well, then suddenly it's back to submitted, but usually I just shrug it off and try again.

Maybe because I've never had anyone really gang up on me I don't see it, but like I said I'll definitely wish you all good luck with this. The mods don't do a lot here.
