HAVING A RIGHT TO SOMETHING IS NOT THE SAME AS BEING ENTITLED TO IT AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
The 2nd Amendment guarantees your right to own a firearm. It does NOT on the other hand, mandate that the government MUST provide you with one, nor does it mandate that you MUST have one whether you want one or not.

That's the difference between "universal" health care, and the right to bear arms.

Just because you have the "right" to something, it does not automatically follow that it is the state's (and by extension, the people's) responsibility to provide it to you.

Captain Picard Facepalm Meme | IT WASN'T A MACHINE GUN | image tagged in memes, captain picard facepalm | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Seriously, I think some people think with these mass killings that the psycho had a Gatling gun or something.

That is the same thing they do with the term "assault rifles."
Fully automatic "assault rifles" or "machine guns" have not been available to US citizens since the "assault weapons ban" in 1986.
Now we can legally obtain semi-automatic rifles but the Left and their media lapdogs call our semiautos "assault rifles." Don't fall for that stuff.

Very true. The role of the federal government was deesigned to be very limited, with most of the power reserved for the States.

So the weapon is a right, but access to life saving medicine is a commodity? No wonder America's priorities are so f**ked up!

The weapon is also a commodity which we have a right to own when we buy it with our own money. There is no law forcing gun manufacturers to give away firearms or to make them available for "reduced" prices. The free market in America forces manufactures to produce better firearms so that we are willing to pay the high prices for them OR to sale their products for less than their competition does.

Medicine and other services by doctors are also commodities. It can be argued that in the statement, "among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" which is found in our Constitution that access to healthcare is found. But it in no way suggests (like with other commodities) that laws should be made to force other people to give to anyone else the fruits of their labor or to make it available for less than it is worth.

Do you know what forcing someone to give away the fruit of their labor for nothing or for less than it is worth is called? That is called slavery. Are you for slavery?

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, ***promote the general welfare**, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of

This is an excellent example of how liberals get so twisted around. The meaning of "general welfare" in the constitution is specific. It is the welfare of the country as a whole. It does not mean the welfare state, it does not mean ensuring the "welfare" of each individual. Welfare as you are using it is giving money to one person by taking it from another. It robs one of money and robs the other of ambition. The federal government is only allowed to spend money where it is necessary for the welfare of the entire country. Things like military, courts, a capital building, etc. The entire welfare state is actually unconsitutional, as is the vast majority of the bureaucracy.

it's not free either way and you're the commodity when it comes to health insurance. The Doctors and Nurses get paid and the insurances covers. To me i would have thought you would want that too so whatever illness you have you can get back to work and buy more guns because it's your right. Not sell them all and your house because the insurance company screwed you to make more money for their share holders.

The health care professionals services are the commodity I can't force to be given to me or provided for a lesser cost than it is worth.
Do even presume to know what I would want. I have a "pre-existing condition" because I was on kidney dialysis for 15 years (I was considered disabled for that time and all my healthcare was paid for by Medicare.)
I had a kidney transplant in January of 2017. I will be on Medicare until January of 2020, then obtaining insurance will be my responsibility. Medicare already has insurance plans for people with pre-existing conditions and many other insurance providers have plans for people like me. It is a disgrace to free markets and individual rights to force 100% of insurance providers to insure people like me if they don't want to, and it forces higher premiums on people who have no health issues.

Healthcare is a service. You have no right to a service. Otherwise you are forcing someone to work for you, the definition of slavery. Also, the Texas shooting was stopped by people who had guns!!!
3 ups, 7y
Exactly. America's priorities are F**ked up because people are ignorant enough to believe that if the federal government doesn't provide it for "free" that you don't have "access" to it. Why don't you ask some vets about the VA's "free" healthcare? How about the Indian reservations?

well if you are in the giving mood, your country can give the USA free healthcare..BTW the poorest Americans and the elderly get free healthcare, the rest of us had our rates skyrocket when Obamacare made it mandatory for every policy to have maternity and drug rehab.. I know he meant well but it kinda didnt work..

Its about improving the welfare of its citizens, just as it provides for its defense. One is as important as the other. Perhaps you wish to live in a shithole like Somalia with no services, why dont you read the law and try and understand how it benefits all of society even you. instead of sounding so self righteous and ignorant.

"General welfare" of the nation and "pursuit of happiness" for each and every individual.
If you want to help the less fortunate than give to charity. Government is NOT a charity because government has **no money** all the money it spends is earned and taken (taxed) from people who work.
2 ups, 7y
The preamble pretty much covers this. But, hey, if you think it needs an amendment. OK. The 6th costs tax dollars and provides due process for all citizens.

no it didn't it's rhetoric and the problem we have here is politicians investing in private health companies and selling of the NHS. Europe is losing to American medicine turning illness into a cash cow.. Pfizer was 6 miles from me and my father worked there. If you don't want our opinion take back you culture you think we want

This whole meme is a false analogy, wtf does the 2nd ammendment and healthcare have to do with each other? Granted it's a funny dichotomy, but ultimately unrelated.
