I'M ALIVE | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Been a crazy week. Family drama that I wont bore you with, and a mini reality check that just made me look at things differently. I love memeing and I love you guys but its not you, its me LOL. But seriously though, the small town I grew up in had a tragic event happen last week, a mother was asleep with her two sons ages 2 and 4, when the house caught on fire in the middle of the night (The father had been at a Habs game) When she woke to the alarm the house was full of smoke and flames, she got her two boys and struggled to get to the door, she had the two year old in her arms and the 4 year old in hand. when she got to the door it was locked so she let go of her sons hand to unlock it and he in turn went running back for their family dog,she couldn't see him because the house was so thick with smoke so she ran out with the 2 year old and handed him to a neighbor, she went to rush back in but the house had propane stoves and one of the tanks blew up engulfing the house and door with flames. After the firemen got the fire out they found the child around 10 feet away from the door, and the family dog, whom I was told was inseparable to the 4 year old was found laying over the boy as if to protect him. Having kids, and a 4 year old and loyal dogs this hit me hard. Since then I've been spending as much time loving my family as I can. I've not left my IMG family, but for the moment I'm taking my time with my family. I do pop in and upvote even if you don't see me. I imagine when winter comes I shall be more active, until then a cheers to my IMG family.

WE MISSED YOU | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
It is so nice that you share with us what had happened. We will always be here for you. You have my support for you, your family, and your community. My dad was a firefighter for 26 years. I never seen him upset or tell me about anything that happens in emergency response. The only time I seen him cry after a fire, was when a house that was on fire 1 block away from our house. A mother and two children were trapped on the second floor. My dad and others got the ladder truck to the second floor window. They climbed in the window and stepped on a mattress. The mattress was covering the lifeless bodies of the mother and children. My dad was so upset, he unknowingly stepped on their bodies, and he couldn't save them. I was around 11 or 12 at the time. It was very hard for him to take. You do what you have to, buddy. We are here for you.

Burgess Meredith in Grumpy Old Men said, "all in life is just the experiences, that all there is". I take it to heart. I think I mentioned it to others on here 3 different times.

I finally catch one of your memes before it gets too busy (I tend to avoid them when they do, don't want to add to the burden), and read this.

Gosh, I don't know what to say, beyond heartbreaking,,,

You be well, dear friend, hang in there, hug those loved ones tight. May you all be safe and well.

Yea man I can definately understand that. Thats how I look at things to because of my deployments, and the amount of friends I have lost while on deployments, knowing there kids dont have there dad any more makes me want to be better for my kids because they are lucky there are so many kids out there without there fathers or mothers, and so many mothers and fathers out there that dont have one or more of there children. that is just a little of my sentimental side, I have moments that are worst then others but I completely understand you side. Family is the most important thing. the only family I have is Jessica and my 3 boys, I dont talk to my family anymore, and haven't in over 10 years so I try to hold them has close as possible, especially Jessica putting up with me and my issues with PTSD and a traumatic Brain injury. I Cant imagine how it made you feel hearing about a what happened to that family, especially when like you said you 4 years old and your dogs. It probably similar to how I feel when these terrorist attack time after time.

Just awful! When something like that happens and it’s so close by it does tend to really make you rethink how you spend your time. I don’t blame you. I’m so sorry for that family but am glad to know that you and yours are well.

Prayers for the Family and Friends May God comfort them! That's why I spend less time than I used to, My girl will be grown and gone in a few years! Enjoy that time, those moments, hours and days you don't get them back, and they are gone much too fast! Peace Brother Dash! Well leave the Light on for you Brother :)

Thinking of you during this time! Reality checks always seem to arrive right before the big holidays. (Mine was about the same time last year) It's not so bad being part time when you keep real family first! Stay cool man!

That's awful, just awful. I don't know what else to say, I'm obviously pretty saddened after reading that.
I'd wondered what was up, I totally understand wanting to see and spend time with your family. I'm feeling the same way lately.

As I've said one of my former occupations was dismantling late model cars in a scrapyard. I did numerous cars that had been fatal wrecks and I've seen some bad stuff, more than I signed up for. (Cars with baby seats still in them were the worst at the end of my career because mine were 3 and 1 when I quit.)
One example - Lady was decapitated in her Corolla by a flying truck tire? Oh well, we still need the engine. We still need the airbages that didn't deploy.
It's just never far from my mind just how fragile life really is. As you said, just like that, in an instant everything changes.
God bless you and yours, you've given us all a lot to think about.

Thanks for sharing your heart. We went from a full house to an empty house and back to a full house again. My adult kids are back home again. And the one who just got married is living here to save for a house...along with their two big puppies. Craziness abounds, especially with the puppies, but I love it. :)

Understandable that a tragic event striking so close to home would make you count your blessings. I have no doubt that you'll keep everyone in your own family safe. The man of the house who went out that night is probably mentally beating himself up about not being home. I know my thinking would be something like that. If I was around that wouldn't have happened. Along those lines of thinking. I've been to many a funeral for friends and some family members. Even my in laws. But I have been lucky enough not to be to one for a brother, sister or parents. I can't even imagine how much of a loss that is. My wife grieved for months for each of her parents and a few brothers. I tried to understand but couldn't completely. Some of you may have read my previous post about having an inoperable brain tumor. I have come to terms with it, but my wife and kids would be devastated I'm sure. Anyway. Good to hear from you again and keep in touch.
7 ups, 7y
Actually he is beating himself up for not being there. He's my mother-in-laws boss, and she said he is full of regret for going to the game. I would be the same way. But this could happen just by going to work, but the mind doesn't work that way. I hope the inoperable tumor isn't growing! I shall be in touch, just not the 5 million points in one year kind of touch is all lol.
