There was a time when Republican and Democrats worked together to insure a better future for Americans then came Johnson and Vietnam, Nixon ,Carter, Reagan the roots of conservatism, Bush 1, read my lips no new taxes! In comes Clinton nafta ,political division increased under Clinton , beginning of political party isolation, political pundits, cable news propaganda and finally what we have today plain old greed, Americans are on the back burner my friend it's party affiliation, corporate funding , and good old greed that matters today! You do know that Democrat Socialism isn't communism right? It has a system of checks and balances and provides for its people quite well. And its not wanting stuff for free. That's America and its No Taxes! retardation.

In countries that have Democratic Socialism people pay higher taxes yes, but they get so much more for it. Currently the happiest, healthiest and best educated people live in Democratic Socialist countries. But dis is Murica! We cut taxes, hate helping each other get health services, underfund our schools and whine about our top paying companies having to bring in foreigners to do the jobs we are now unskilled enough to do.

Thank you for the info but I am a bit more pessimistic about socialism in the US. Those counties rely on the US for protection, so they have very low military spending. The US will always need a large and powerful military, I wish it weren't true. If you put those two things you get a dystopia, not a utopia.
