"Dreamers" just want to continue their education and be left alone. 1 guy I heard speaking on the radio this morning Open Line - CBS radio KNX via KROQ) came 1 year too late. Mom sez they going on Vacation @ 10 years old. To me (and any JUST Law) he's totally blameless. Even if he actively conspired to TRAFFICK himself. He is too young @ 10 to form Criminal Intent @ Statutory law. Though you may wishe to argue that TRADITIONALLY @ Common law - he is arguably the head of his own household (particularly if married or living at any remove from his parents) by perhaps as much as 2 years, @ that poynte.

I'm beginning to think you're the one here who's 13. Good grief you need to read a book or two and stop swallowing white imperialist propaganda. The pilgrims didn't have a country when they fled to North America and started slaughtering Native Americans and infecting them with diseases. Native Americans had Chiefs and elders and shamans. What did the pilgrims have? A king back in England they were defying at every turn. Humans in every country in every era have slaughtered each other. Men like to fight and have been fighting each other since day one. That in and of itself doesn't make a group of people any less worthy of owning their own land. Wake up.
reply

"White imperialist propaganda." Nice joke, kid. At no point did I say that this alleged "slaughtering" was okay. Saying "its teh whiet manz fault" does nothing. Your point was still ridiculous because chiefs do not make a group of bandits a country. The settlers were clearly more organized and structured despite their disobedience. This is demonstrated by the fact that they became a country, the "Indians" had thousands of years to do something similar. Instead, they lived in tents and murdered people of other tribes.

Isn't it rather racist to say "go back to Europe?" You're only saying that because I'm white. Also, the pyramids were built thousands of years before those other pictures were taken (and not in Europe, might I add). Pictures of Contemporary "Indians" are irrelevant to the fact that there was not societal structure in the Americas, no well defined borders, governments, or writing systems. (If not none, them very little). You can attribute the simplicity of their weapons on the lack of availability to resources- but this does not nullify what was stated above. The dark ages were a result of the destruction of an imperialist power- this case being the Roman Empire. But please, ignore these basic facts and continue to misrepresent my argument. By only addressing part of it, you admit the segment about how there was no "country" to "invade" is correct. It's not the government's job to rectify past injustices- but to mend current ones and to enforce current laws. Get over it.

NorthDakota Access PIPELINE? Wake up. We're stealing WHILE YOU SLEEP.

And stealing from your greatgrandfather is still a theft that may affect you - depending on what was stolen.

I get from your arguments that you Don't do much original or even second hand research on these topics. I honestly haven't time to unpack all the wrong in your statements.

Just realize that under the Constitution Treaty is the highest law of the land. Broken treaties littler the landscape and history of this country. Now you want to follow a bunch of self-serving rules and arbitrary borders that we've erected - to our benefit, and to deny people indigenous to this hemisphere their fair share of the pie we stole.

Well when you're ready to Hand Luis Posada-Carriles over to Cuba Venezuela or Panama - for their outstanding warrants - and his admitted illegal entry...I'll believe this is some concern for LAW and ORDER and not ethnocentrism/racism.
reply

Sorry, but you are false. The Dakota Access Pipeline traverses a path on private property and does not cross into the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s reservation. 100% of landowners in North Dakota voluntarily signed easements to allow for construction of the pipeline on their property. Nearly the entire route of the 1,172 mile pipeline has been sited and approved by relevant state and federal agencies and more than 22% of the pipeline has already been completed. To the extent possible, the Dakota Access Pipeline was routed to parallel existing infrastructure, such as the Northern Border Pipeline, to avoid environmentally sensitive areas and areas of potential cultural significance.

I don't do research? Hmm. Paragraph above begs to differ. Oh, and you can't say that the "natives" were a civilized bunch. They were scattered tribes. I have no idea what "arbitrary borders" you're referring to, because the border I care most about abuts Mexico.

Check YOUR FACTS - cause the SIOUX DISAGREE. The "GOVERNMENT" we put over them is well paid...and they follow orders. So there is your "private property".

Grandmas and Elders firehosed @ -20°s. I HOPE YOU'RE PROUD.

Abraham and the various subsequent TRIBES of Israel were civilized weren't they. Frankly -Abraham showed concern for his Brother, so I Don't know WHOSE culture or tradition you follow. In any event your lack of a background in anthropology seems to serve you poorly here. And does more service to your claims at being "civilized" - than perhaps YOU.deserve.

They were nice to travelers and foreigners - ergo more advanced than you OR the Prince of Orange.

I think you grasp for the facts supplied to you by liars - because it helps you live with your conscience. In the case of your pipeline "Cool Story, bro" it is a FANTASY told by the oil industry and well bought spokesliars - on Both sides of the border. Lot's of unhappy people in Indian Country. AND FOR WHAT - so that companies that are invested in a polluting and limited resource infrastructure can maximize PROFITS - before we make the inevitable switch to renewable energy sources - which do not pollute much if at all... Oh and if there's a spill over HERE on "Private Property" - what does that do to the water table on my private property? Who is going to pay once the oil companies have poisoned the water in Indian Country? Will you? Seems like you're SOME kind of accessory.

I GOT A HAT FOR YA.

*you seem to have turned this discussion into one of morality. At no point did I say that native land seizure was okay. I wouldn't consider the natives "nice", either. White infants were slammed against walls, settlers were ambushed- anecdotes about Squanto do nothing to prove to the contrary. Also, total genetic fallacy. Yeah, Abraham and those like him may have not been civilized, but you must remember that they lived in the thousands BC whilst the natives were just as advanced as they were but thousands of years later.*

They were nice to travelers and foreigners - ergo more advanced than you OR the Prince of Orange.

* above^*

*the rest of your "argument" is just whiny virtue signaling that has nothing to do with illegal immigration or mistreatment of natives 100s of years ago. I note that you didn't attack the material, just me. You've moved the conversation so far away from the topic in the meme because you just want to feel good about yourself. Frankly, I don't give a damn about the pipeline.*

Can I say that we're getting somewhere - and that I enjoy your company on the journey at present.

FAIR IS Super Suspect. POLITIFACT generally does fairly extreme violence to both halves of it's name - in my experience. Pretty certain that they've been clowned by folks at MSNBC on several well illustrated occasions. Weird variances between their meter and the text...stuff like that.

As my lost opus said I prefer a guy @ UCSD in the 90's maybe UCLA TOO - in the last decade at least if memory serves. He was given an Institute @ one point studying Cross Border issues of exactly this sort, and some kind of endowed chair. I can't remember his name - but it was his scholarly and PEER REVIEWED Work that turned me around on this. Tim Wise is also great on Race and ethnic issues whenever I hear him.

My guess in the lost post was The Heritage Foundation or John Tanton's group. So I was within the right 50% on a cold reading. Anyway I think they start with a conclusion - that Immigration is a problem that MUST be addressed...and then loom for evidence which supports that. Avoiding the actual counterevidence and arguments - at times, seemingly while dancing on the head of a pin or defeating strawmen.

I have been following the issue since the 80's and have argued the points with some great minds. A long time ago - I suspect those on your side. But I had good teachers. And life experiences and time to reflect and such.

That's 100% irrelevant to the illegal immigration conversation. Liberal rule #1: " . . . mention the mistreatment of natives hundreds of years ago." You're pretty entitled yourself, saying that all white people should "go back to Europe" but you should get to stay because of your race.
reply
3 ups, 1 reply
Liberal rule #16 and #17 were clearly followed here. "Everyone you disagree with is racist . . ." And "use words with different meanings interchangeably." And at no point did I say to "kick out the unentitled." That's liberal rule #23, "twist words and misinterpret meaning."

The meme above is irrelevant to the illegal immigration conversation. And "checking my papers" is meaningless because I was born on a USAFB and both of my parents were citizens. Also, as for "alternate facts," that's Liberal Rule #7, "repeat empty and false maxims . . ."

Codes =/ Law. Often, QUITE THE OPPOSITE. JIM CROW was a series of "laws". I get your point. But in the specific instance, of people in this hemisphere whose traditional routes for trade, transmigration and settlement were intentionally cut by the imposition of the border under Guadeloupe Hidalgo - combined with OUR duty to the people of our Colonies under the pottery barn rule - well equity militates against a ruling of the sort you might favor, I fear.

Yeah dude f**k off with your feel-good virtue signaling. There is no "white homeland" anyone in the mainstream GOP is pushing for. Illegal is ILLEGAL. It has nothing to do with race. Now you're saying enforcing laws is racist . . . YOU are your problem, not me. Your irrational argument supported only with irrelevant bullshit from 200 years ago will cease to exist the moment you do.
reply

Virtue signalling is the conspicuous expression of moral values by an individual done primarily with the intent of enhancing that person's standing within a social group.

HOLY SHIT YOU F**KING NUMBSKULL. Abe's civilization wasn't advanced- but that was THOUSANDS of years before. The point about not being advanced refers to the fact that they didn't have a country. I say the same things over and over again, yet you continue to twist my words.

So now you're guessing at my motives - for the crime of being decent, a good Samaritan on the road as it were. Was Mr. Justice Marshall just posing too? Was S. Brian Wilson - we he put his body on the line for the people of El Salvador and the rest of Centro America? I can still lay a tackle - or make a House Call wwith an interception. so obviously my level of commitment is somewhat less. Or maybe I just pick smarter or more survivable fights, and then get lucky.

I suppose I could say you're 'signaling' Sith Values - but I guess the presumption is that no one believes the things that they say.- in this case I'm offering odds -110 that you believe this stuff... +105 you Don't really. I can't make up my mind. If others care to chime in on the sincerity of both You. AND your arguments I'm interested to know the opinions of others. The line is close - so action in one direction could cause it to move - or just be a scratch by the house.

DEVELOPMENT and CIVILIZED are NOT THE SAME THING.

The MODERN moment is EVERPRESENT and ubiquitous in history - save perhaps after a disaster or Great Flood. We always think we the shit and happening at the highest levels.

The roots of the LATIN word are civ - people iles - of the God's - and so therefore a BIT more enlightened than MODERN or POST-MODERN if you prefer (0 evidence to that effect so far...but we're only 17 years into the next millennium so whenever you feels it - we will all.embrace you.)

All the Fertile Crescent Civilizations seem to revere the ancient tradition of caring for the traveler - the stranger in their Midst. It distinguishes Decent folks from Sodom and Gommorah. So take the world that way. I Don't see it going on forever.
