Teaching kids to THINK CRITICALLY is something the American education system needs to do.

Like YESTERDAY.

Or at least before the first Tuesday of November 2020. :P

My community college classes are forcing me to think critically, which is great because I'm realizing how sheltered I was in my public education schooling. They told us FDR was the greatest president that ever lived, but didn't tell us that there was criticism of his tenure.

Funny you mention. A 19 year old student at a community college in Orange County recorded his liberal human sexuality professor ranting about how much she hated Donald Trump, and got suspended this week and is required to write an apology.

That's nuts!!!

Well there's two ways to look at it:

1. The teacher shouldn't be espousing her personal political beliefs in a public classroom setting.

BUT....

2. Why was this kid recording her, and WHO was he planning to show it to? Post it on YouTube? Or take it to some thug-head Trump supporter?

It's a very real possibility. Everything that is happening now is unprecedented. It's NEVER happened. Our society has crumbled so MUCH that it was now possible. You just might be seeing secret police soon, judging on the kind of people Trump has surrounded himself with.

Well yes, it's not polite to record professors because its theft of intellectual property without consent. But keep in mind that this occurred the day after Trump won on November 9th; she said that electing Trump was an "act of terrorism". Basically the college was saying that Freedom of Speech only works one way if it comes to protecting the tenure of a professor.

I hear that first graders have to prove that 1+1=2. That's just plain dumb.

Neither common sense nor common core is actually "common" anymore. It's false advertisement!

I hated teaching common "bore". Half the materials weren't even proofed....Just thrown out to us.
