I'll be honest though.. I enjoyed his presidency. Sure the economy went down, and we should have no business with North Korea, but the oppressed were for once less oppressed. In my opinion, human rights and lives are more important than money because Money is something you can get back very easily, a human being is not.

In my Elementary School years, a student could call another student "Gay" as an insult, along with get bullied. In my high school these days, being gay is ok, along with being trans, bi, etc. I know some people who are part of the LGBT, 3 friends I can remember from the top of my head, 4 including myself. Including them, I have friends who are minorities, and I care for them as much as anyone.
With a conservative president, the changes and protections made for equality would be removed, thus Making America Hate Again. The only difference between today's America, and Bush's America was that love was a force in Today's America, but now is muffled, chained, and dismissed by politics. I not only fear for myself, but my friends as well if they're picked on or attacked, and that's not the America I wish to see.
According to many people, George W. Bush was the worst president in U.S. History because of not only his economic policies which lead the economy down (and which Obama tried to fix), but also because of his exposed reaction to 9/11, which once he got the news, he continued reading "My Pet Goat" to kindergarteners, and then attacked the wrong people. (Also called the War on Terror)

I'll be honest when I say that Obama's presidency were the Greatest 8 Years of My life. 4 Years in, no kids were made fun of for being gay, and that was cool with me. I would banter on about his legacy as well, TBH.

I honestly would like (love) to hear your feedback on my little (what should I call this?) rant, and what you think were the goods and bads were of Obama's presidency.

Thanks! <3

You're comparing baking a cake to an execution-style murder? That analogy is laughably retarded.
reply
1 up, 1 reply
Well it basically was a murder.

The religious families refusal led to the murder of their business.

You didn't hear about this?
reply
2 ups, 2 replies
A business is not a person. You cannot murder a business. No humans were murdered in this story. A business closed down. Yes, it was because the couple refused to bake a cake and people stopped doing business with them. If you make a lousy business decision and then lose customers as a result, it's your own fault. If a business puts up a sign that says "no blacks", then people stop going to that business and they have to close their doors because they lost their customers, that's their own fault. You support a business owner saying "no cakes for gay weddings". Would you support a business that said "no black customers allowed"?
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
There wasn't a murder in the meme, it's showing how both sides can be wrong.

Some Christians and Muslims don't agee religiously with gay people. They shouldn't be forced to make a specifically gay cake and it was all the negative attention in the media that led to the business closing down. If the BAKER'S rights were respected as well, it wouldn't have led to such negative media attention.

Your analogy of blacks being refused service isn't applicable.
reply
2 ups, 2 replies
My analogy of blacks being refused service is entirely applicable. In the past, people have been refused service because they are black. Some Christian business owners want to be able to refuse service to people because they are gay. I don't see a difference.

There wasn't a murder in the meme but it was heavily implied. Holding a gun to the back of someone's head obviously implies an act of violence, if not murder.

I agree that a business should be allowed to turn away customers if they want to. However, if they do that, then receive criticism and financial loss as a result, they have no one to blame but themselves.
reply
1 up, 1 reply
The meme was showing how they're violating rights now by forcing the baker to do what THEY want, regardless of how the baker feels. That's disrespectful. They had no REASON not to serve blacks other than their own beliefs. RELIGIOUS beliefs are why bakers don't want to make a specifically gay cake. The two situations are entirely different man.

Religious freedoms are a right here. America is a democratic republic. There's going to be people you don't think are right like the religious bakers but they have rights too.
reply

"They had no REASON not to serve blacks other than their own beliefs. RELIGIOUS beliefs are why bakers don't want to make a specifically gay cake." I get what you're saying (religious beliefs vs personal, nonreligious beliefs), but discriminating against non-white people was still their belief (their conscience). I often hear Christians today throw around the phrase "freedom of conscience". Hatred toward black people would technically be protected by a law that protects freedom of conscience.

I answered if you'd check your notifications, bud.

It talks about marriage being sacred and being between a man and woman. Any union of a man and man or women and women is to defile God. So the bakers, probably thought to contribute to such a abomination would be contributing to sin.

No it does specifically say cake makers in Oregon or anything like that. :)

Why does your example have to black?
I kinda see your mind set much clearer now.
reply
1 up, 6 replies
I understand that Christians refuse to provide business for gay weddings for that reason.

My example is black people for two reasons. First, black people have experienced this very same discrimination in the past. So it's a real thing I can point to for comparison, rather than some nebulous hypothetical situation. Second, being black is not a choice. Black people are born black. I believe being gay is the same. I believe that gay people are likely born gay, which if true, makes it an immutable characteristic.

Do I think I'm an idiot? That's a very strange question. I think in some ways I'm smart, and in other ways I'm not. I wouldn't use the word idiot to describe myself, but I can be dumb at times, sure. Saying that "you are wrong and I am right" also doesn't help your argument. You don't get to just declare yourself the winner of an argument. It doesn't work like that. Did you know that Trump defended gay rights at the Republican National convention and said he was happy that so many Republicans were clapping? He also said he didn't care what bathroom trans people use.

https://youtu.be/lSVLpzGseXw
reply
4 ups, 1 reply
Yes, I did know that. He did say he didn't mind which bathrooms that trans people used. However, he changed his stance on bathrooms after he became the Republican Nominee.
He has flip-flopped his stance on Gay marriage a couple of times: his latest statement being the Supreme Court is done with it. However, his VP Mike Pence has several other ideas, including removing all of the protections that the LGBT have. (Which is why he makes Trump look good in my opinion)

Thanks for being rational, by the way. :)
Here's an upvote!
reply
2 ups, 2 replies
I don't think he ever changed his stance, he said it should be up to each state. He believes the federal government should have less power and wants states to have control over their own issues, but he still believes like he said that trans people should use which ever bathroom they feel is appropriate.

I also don't think Pence wants to do what you're saying. I think that's just hysteria created by the false narrative mainstream media uses.
reply
3 ups, 2 replies
Well, if that's true, than I'm in less trouble. I live in North Carolina, and we just elected a guy who will (hopefully, he's a politician) repeal HB2. However, States' rights leaves trouble for the LGBT in anti-LGBT states, which still recedes equality.

Well, I actually did my research and found out that Pence has given money in Indiana to ex-gay conversion therapies. I tend to avoid the News (we don't have cable, that's a plus) because I also know that outlets such as Fox, CNN, NBC, all of the other 3-letter named crap-spouters (and MSNBC) are twisted.

I do check a site called LGBTQ-Nation, sometimes (not often), which takes LGBTQ Hate Events (Whether a Gay man has made negative comments about woman's dressing, or a trans person is murdered in another country), Ellen Degenres/John Oliver episodes, and other things and spread them around. The site does some articles on Mike Pence, but that's not where I got the information.

I looked it up on PolitiFact (which I know a lot of people use), and found out that it is Half-true, as Pence hasn't focused fully on Gay conversion therapy, but still has opposed Gay marriage and such.
reply
3 ups, 1 reply
I've heard that Pence was against gay marriage in the past, but I don't think he really cares about it presently. He did just go to the theater to watch the Hamilton production which had some gay actors in it I believe. If you watched that clip I linked, pretty much all the people at the Republican National Convention were cheering for gay rights. I don't think you have anything to worry about. And just because Trump wants states to make their own choices doesn't mean he won't step in if anyone's rights are being violated.
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
I'm certain Trump won't be too much of an issue.
Still though, he has appointed people like Rick Perry to a high position of power. I could say that Rick Perry is worse than Mike Pence: he doesn't just hate Gays, he also hates Atheists. No equal is if a Christian baker doesn't want to bake a cake because it's against their religion. Superiority is it that said Baker loses business because he doesn't want to bake a cake for someone whose lifestyle is against his religion beliefs. Where was the protection for him?
reply
3 ups, 8 replies
Lifestyle? That's one of the many myths about homosexuality.
It's actually a genetic structuring that causes homosexuality, which is why they can't control it. Therefore, the Baker is discriminating against their conditions they can't control, and it is a crime against humanity.
reply
2 ups, 3 replies
Dude, I'm pro gay rights but come on, it's not a crime against humanity if a baker doesn't want to use their artistic skills to bake a cake for a gay wedding. Everyone should be entitled to live the way they want to as long as they aren't hurting anyone. Why can't they just go to a baker who is comfortable baking their cake? Here's a good take on the subject:

https://youtu.be/RgWIhYAtan4
3 ups
Ok, they don't need to use their skills to create a Gay Wedding Cake, but there are actually shops out there that refuse service to anyone who they might think are gay, wedding cake or not. Probably not relevant right now, but still worth mentioning.
Also, what if they happen to come across a bakery in the countryside/middle of nowhere where there's no other bakery in sight, and the baker is uncomfortable with it? Many weddings, gay or straight, are often held in rural/open (very pretty) areas, with little/no bakeries nearby, but one. If that one bakery is uncomfortable with making a cake for a gay wedding, what should happen then?

Right. Like he said in the video, they shouldn't refuse to make them a birthday cake. But the government forcing someone to go against their religious beliefs and make a specifically gay cake is wrong. That's fascism, and is against the first amendment.
2 ups
Good point. I didn't see why the government should get involved. A YouTuber I watch named Jaclyn Glenn made this point when debating with Jesse Lee Peterson. She mentioned that bringing the bakers to court and such is harsh, along with forcing them to shut down the business.
Sure, enforcing one's religious beliefs is terrible, but enforcing the government to shut down a small bakery is also bad.

I think if I were having a gay wedding, and the baker who I visit is uncomfortable with making a wedding cake, I would just move on. I would let the government know, but I wouldn't tell them to shut the bakery down. I could let my friends know, and they'll know where not to get a gay wedding cake. However, if the bakery was in the middle of nowhere, the person has to make the cake if there are no other nearby bakeries.

Being gay cuts off procreation which limits humanity.
I don't care really, or won't act on it or discriminate. I just think its disgusting
2 ups
Being celibate cuts off procreation which limits humanity. So is being celibate a crime against humanity? The things you say are so outlandish, I'm really starting to wonder if you're genuine or just goofing around. To say that being gay is a crime against humanity is so absurd and illogical and just, flat-out out of touch with reality. I'm sorry, but there's no other way to say it. Genocide is a crime against humanity. Using chemical weapons against civilians is a crime against humanity. You're comparing being gay with genocide and war crimes. That is not rational.
1 up
Why do we need procreation? 7 Billion humans in the world already. How is that not enough because we're draining planet resources the way the Maya Tribe drained theirs..
The stories you hear about gays are often seen in big cities. However, there are still some who live in Rural areas.
Also, how is it a crime against humanity to be gay? It is actually a natural thing since some animal studies have shown similar characteristics to that of the LGBT. In fact, biological studies tell us that clownfish can change gender. It's something from birth; it's not controllable.

Let's take a hypothetical situation to see if that's true. A black man applies for a job. The white employer turns him down and says "I don't want black people working here". The black man sues. The black man wins. The white man is forced to hire the black man. Now by your logic, the black man didn't want equality. He wanted supremacy. By your logic, the equal and fair thing would have been to come to a decision that benefited both people.

Yeah, I wouldn't call it a rant either. I was joking about that part. XD
I think the LGBT protections were his biggest achievements as well! <3

Romney couldn't touch Obama in the elections, so if he did win, he wouldn't be able to do anything! XD
California's a very liberal area, so the protection removals hopefully won't be taken to California. Unfortunately for me, Guess what: I live in North Carolina, where HB2 and the Confederacy roam! If any hatred goes around, I'll be in the center of it.. :(

It's very telling when someone says they think the rights of sodomites and trannny circus freaks should be at the top of the national priority list, ahead of national defense, healthcare, veterans affairs, law and order, race relations, education and fighting global terrorism, all of which suffered under that unqualified affirmative action poser the last 8 years.

Like I've said, human rights are larger, less replaceable, and more important than the money has IMO.

Love this comment ninja!! Very telling indeed.
If the past 8 years have shown us anything.
It's not equality they seek, it's superiority.
Won't bake my cake? Bigot!

If someone refused to serve black customers, would you call that person a bigot? Yes or no?
reply

They would be a bigot, but that doesn't take away from the fact that any business owner can refuse the right to serve anyone.
The superiority comes in when its ok to discriminate against one person, but not ok for another.
This couple's belief in scripture is just as strong and the other couples homosexuality.
Case closed.

Also being black isnt against their religious beliefs, so using that as an example is very damaging to your argument. :/

I am no fan of the guy, but it is a touch misguided to consider Obama as the worst ever. Warren Harding, James Buchanan and others have had some serious gaffes during their tenure.

Under the Harding administration, there was a depression. He did nothing about it and the depression ended. That is why conservatives like him.

Over 6 years of sustained job growth, Dow Jones and S&P 500 consistently hitting record highs, and the first real wage growth since Bill Clinton was in office.... and Obama haters still want to say we're in a depression.

Economy was good under Clinton I'll give him that, but shit, it was the big computer boom. I could have made the economy look good. You know?
As far as the Dow goes, yes record highs since trump was announced president-elect. It wasn't like we had the slowest economic growth all through his presidency, then magically with 3 months left he got it right.
Let's just be real.

I really hope trump remembers the people.
I believe he will.
I also lol at it this way.
If he totally f**ks us, like they have been, then we know for sure that we can't trust our leaders and we can get rid of this two party system that does not work! :)

Let's see:

1. Racked up more debt than all other presidents COMBINED (totalling now $19.9 Trillion)
2. $1 Trillion in tax increases In ObamaCare over a decade
3. Student loan debt increased 98%
4. Obamacare premiums have increased 22% after he promised a $2500 per family per year decrease in premiums?
5. Because of Obama’s policies since he became President, 11,472,000 Americans have left the work force and HE NO LONGER COUNTS THEM!
6. U6 unemployment (the real number) through the roof for 8 solid years
7. A more racially divided America than at any time in decades
8. Politicized the FBI, the IRS, the CIA, the EPA ... The IRS targeted Obama’s political enemies including Christian groups, pro-Israel groups, and most prominently, Tea Party groups
9. His "Clean Power" regulations have raised electricity rates between 10% and 14%
10. Lowest home ownership rate than at any time since the 50's
11. Only president in history to have never achieved 3% GDP growth. Assuming 2.67% RGDP growth for 2016, Obama will leave office having produced an average of 1.55% growth. This would place his presidency fourth from the bottom of the list of 39, above only those of Herbert Hoover (-5.65%), Andrew Johnson (-0.70%) and Theodore Roosevelt (1.41%)
12. US median hourly wage decreased $0.19 under Obama
13. 183 new significant EPA regulations to stifle business growth
14. 2,998 new significant business choking regulations since he took office
15. The richest 10 per cent are the only group – the only group! – who saw their median income rise
16. Premature withdrawal from Iraq helped create ISIS
17. Blew the Arab Spring
18. 2 million jobs projected to be lost under his TPP deal (he doesn't care)
19. Obama put our country’s reputation on a red line he drew over the use of chemical weapons in Syria. When that line was crossed, he did nothing, damaging US foreign policy. Not only does everyone now call Obama’s bluffs, they ignore him. He's irrelevant and a joke.
20. The number of Americans on welfare has hit record highs
21. A record 20% of Americans on food stamps
22. Our nation lost its AAA credit rating under Obama
23. When he was running for office in 2008, Obama claimed that, “Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.” He lied.
24. He released 5 Taliban terrorists In exchange for deserter Bowe Bergdahl

Bergdahl was a good trade because those terrorists led us to a terrorist base, also, for most of them, he never promised anything because you can't predict the future 4 years into the future.

The families of the dead soldiers who died trying to find that deserter scum would disagree.

Those soldiers are:
Staff Sergeant Clayton Bowen, 29, of San Antonio, Texas
Private 1st Class Morris Walker, 23, of Chapel Hill, N.C.
Staff Sergeant Kurt Curtiss, 27, of Murray, Utah
2nd Lieutenant Darryn Andrews, 34, of Dallas, Texas
Staff Sergeant Michael Murphrey, 25, of Snyder, Texas
Private 1st Class Matthew Martinek, 20, of DeKalb, Illinois

The diversion of these soldiers as well as their entire to search for a deserter, Bergdahl, forced the thinning of the ranks of U.S. troops elsewhere in the region, and according to many, actually caused several more American KIAs, according to several US soldiers who were there at the time.

Nope. NOT a good trade. Obama wouldn't know how to negotiate a trade for a used car.

Bergdahl should be summarily executed for desertion in a theater of war. And his Taliban loving hippie parents should be deported to Afghanistan.

Carter's administration was horrible. He himself was decent. Calling Obama's the worst in history is an overstatement. I would rank Obama (his staffers resigned because of scandals) below W. (had housing money in politics issues his staffer resigned on principle) and them below Clinton and Bush Sr.

No, Jimmy is STILL the worst. Obama got a Nobel for NOTHING. Carter got a Nobel for bringing about the OPPOSITE (a Nuclear N Korea) of his stated intent.
