I was around then, and much earlier. The talk of running out of oil gave it 100 to 200 years when I was in school in the 70s. While the number of cars is up from that time period, the amount of gas used has gone down thanks to fuel efficiency. I drive a gas guzzler, but I can still get by on a tank of gas a month, with plenty left over using it for my personal needs. I rarely drive more than a few miles from home and when I do, I make multiple stops for the various things I have to do. If I don't have to leave the house, or can walk it, I do. Otherwise, my car can sit for days without moving. Others are getting on the band wagon.

But that's me.

Continuing oil exploration and advances in hydraulic fracturing have greatly increased the amount of technically extractable reserves worldwide, thus extending the "peak oil" and "end oil" timeframes.

Extend, but not end. I remember the smog of the 60s. I saw it in Phoenix in the 90s. I'd rather not go back to that. Today's generation saw it when China hosted the Olympics. One reason why I'm such a stickler about renewable energy.

Definitely. And that's the major obstacle to environmentalism in the US: environmental laws have been around for so long most folks don't remember the pre-EPA bad old days.

If we don't want Trump destroying our world too much, we could always boycott his decisions to dismantle protection against global warming by not using cars or cutting down on use of fossil fuels.

There is climate change, but it's GREATLY exaggerated.

You don't even realize how brainwashed you are. It's pretty funny when these "experts" go on expeditions to the poles to "prove" it and their ships get stuck in all the ice and dumbass morons like you still believe it. Lmao
3 ups, 7y,
1 reply
So because ice is in the north and south poles, you think global warming doesn't exist?
7 ups, 7y,

The point is that they go there to prove it's gone...and get stuck in it. But feel free to pay your carbon taxes and "save the world".
3 ups, 7y,

There's so much that you don't understand. They go to the poles to test air quality from millennia ago. They test air quality now by flying research planes. Then they compare that data to the stuff they found in the poles to see how bad our ozone layer has deteriorated.

No, I understand completely what they're doing. YOU'RE the one not capable of critical thinking.
2 ups, 7y
I'm the one incapable of critical thinking? Then why did I have to explain everything to you? You really think that? Maybe you should think before typing.
4 ups, 7y
The scam is that it's man-made and we have the ability to reverse it. Nobody disputes that the global climate is changing. It's been doing that for centuries. It's suckers like you who are getting scammed by the belief we can impact natural climate change by adding a carbon tax.
6 ups, 7y
You didn't HAVE to explain anything to me, you assumed I was ignorant on the subject. I never said there wasn't any legitimate research being done, I was making fun of the scientists who got stuck in ice and had to be rescued. Look it up.

You are incapable of critical thinking if you believe in this scam.

Actually everybody assumed the earth was flat. Scientists were the ones who helped us figure out otherwise.

They never believed the earth is flat?

Virtually everyone with any sort of education knew the earth was round more than a thousand years before the scientific method was invented.

Scientists going back at least to Pythagoras 2,500 years ago have known the Earth is (roughly) spherical and even had a pretty good idea as to its diameter, based on scientific observation. The folks you are talking about who thought Earth was flat were religious leaders, for instance Christians who based their beliefs on the Bible over actual observation.

You liberals cam complain all you want about Christianity, but when it comes down to it, you would rather live in a Christian majority country than an Islamic majority country.

This meme isn't even about religion so there shouldn't have been a discussion about religion in the first place, but my comment was just as relevant as his since he brought it up. He just likes to troll my memes.

The "virtually everyone" I mentioned above included Christians, as did the inventors of the scientific method. In fact, the most prominent contributors to that invention were Catholic bishops and priests.

Except it's not a theory, it's actually a conclusive fact. Even if it was a theory are you going to deny the existence of evolution, or gravity?
