For some reason I was able to create life with two women who both ended up not caring if they went long periods of time without seeing their kids. Which is fine with me I'm very lucky, guys usually don't win custody battles, and I would go nuts if I couldn't see my kids often.

I know exactly what you mean, my first child I had, we weren't married, in Georgia the (unmarried) father has next to no rights, needless to say, I lost, I haven't seen either of them for almost 10 years. I have four other children, who I love to death, but my daughter Sasha is always on my mind......I always wonder will I ever see her again, and if so.....what will she think of me?

If I may, hopefully I can provide a little insight, and also reassurance, regarding that: speaking from personal experience, whenever one parent separates a child from the other parent, 99.9? of the time, it backfires on them. not only does the child resent the parent for the separation, the child often idolizes the one they don't see... in the long run, what usually happens is the children themselves alienate the parent who initially kept them from the other, and will form a bond with the one they didn't see growing up. This was the case for me, except it was my "father" keeping me away from my mom,

and off the top of my head I can think of at least 4 or 5 other people that it has ended up that way for... obviously there are no guarantees in life, and obviously that doesn't take away the pain and anger and resentment that you both will feel in the meantime... but like I said, hopefully my insight from the child's perspective can at least give you a little hope or comfort... I know holidays can be rough regarding this kind of thing.

No worries, I'm new to this site and based on what I've seen so far it seems like a relatively cool lil community. Just glad to be a part of it, and glad that what I went thru could maybe help someone, even if only a little bit

oh and just a side note my father bad mouthed my mother as horribly as anyone could imagine, and it made not a damn bit of difference. case in point: I'm 34, I haven't spoken to my father since I was about 26, and I've had a relationship with my mother since the day I moved out at 16. Just wanted to add that.

I don't think there are much worse things in this world to have to think about than something like that, Nothing is harder for a real parent than the stress of custody rights. You don't even have to be suing each other about it, it still torments your thoughts in the middle of the night.

you're so right, and not just for the parents... the children feel so much anxiety, guilt, stress, etc. too... and the parent that "loses" has the dilemma of not wanting to make the child think they just abandoned them, but without completely trashing the other parent (well, that is a GOOD parent would encounter said dilemna)...that's why I wanted to make sure and at least let @Evilmandoevil know how I felt from the perspective of a child who had to go thru the same, that he isn't alone, and I'm willing to bet she misses him dearly, even if she was really young when they were separated... the odds are in his favor.

Yeah, I'm retaking a class I failed my first year at CSUCI, it was a class for my major too. In case you are wondering it's microeconomics.

Oh, that sounds like as fun as Thermodynamics! Barf! Lol. The first time around the professor was from India (I don't have any problems with anyone from anywhere) but half the class could not understand him, so help me God I tried! Probably like microeconomics, if you miss one section or class or whatever, you're lost, you're missing a piece of the puzzle, you know? :(

Yeah, plus it didn't help that I had to pay money to actually do the homework our professor wanted us to do! :/
