You know I was reading an article the other day, talking about how when we face a terrorist attack these days, we post a drawing of a broken heart or the statue of liberty crying; Which is all well and good, but I think we are replacing real courage and sympathy with emojis, memes, and FB banners. I understand that we can't go and fight ISIS ourselves, but it made an interesting point; We tend to make a meme or use a dramatic picture of an American flag when one of these things happens as a way to pat ourselves on the back for our patriotism.

I think it's not that we don't care, but the Brussels attack was symbolic of what they are trying to do. Ot's the same as if someone blew up a monument in a small brazillian village. Not really an international news story. But if they turned around and blew ip the statue of Liberty, that would be a much bigger deal, because of the symbolism.
