Yeah, I joined about a month ago and I got 100k points pretty fast by leaving funny (I laughed) comments/meme comments on the front page memes and on the newest ones. Plus, leaving good comments will make people more likely to check out your profile ;D

Comments are where it's at.

Ok, obviously people are more likely to comment on memes in the Hot pages, or on popular user's memes, if they want their comments to be seen. When you get a meme on the front page, it's likely to get comments.

Yup, it does. There's no set formula (how many points you get per comment) because obviously people still have to upvote it, but in general, it's the easiest way to get your humor seen on imgflip.

There's no submission limit on meme comments, and you can just put them on the front page straight away, without making a meme and waiting/hoping for that meme to get there.

One thing I have tried that works is going through both Hot and Latest categories and going crazy upvoting almost everything. It's not as fast as commenting, but upvoting plus making more comments got me 7000+ points in the past two days

Class envy is indoctrinated in the population and it comes seeping out like a bad septic system in your lawn, even on imgflip.

Actually it kind of is. If you're on the leaderboard chances are at least a few people will click on your name and upvote some of your memes.

Yes, you're right that being more well-known on the site will probably get you more views (and obviously the more views a person gets, the more opportunity to be upvoted - people can't upvote what they never see).

But that's not what you said at all. You said "everyone automatically upvotes their memes and they always get front page," which is something very different.

If a well-known user makes a meme people don't like, people aren't going to automatically upvote it anyway just because the user is well-known.

But yeah. If you are good, you get popular here. That may give you a couple free looks for a while. But to STAY on top you have to be a giver to the community. A contributor who sets tone. Otherwise in the image flip news cycle you get lost if you aren't consistently a stud.

It's not logic. It isn't based on sound reasoning. It's just a myth. It might resonate with people emotionally because it gives them an apparent explanation for why their memes didn't get as many views or upvotes as they wanted, but it isn't true.
