Thanks! Looks like I'm not getting any decent feature times today, sucks when you spend a lot of time on something and it just gets buried for all your trouble...

It really sucks that this got buried! :-( if I had anything going anywhere if link it to it. Mine are all flopping too.

Maybe I'll get lucky and enough people will find it on my page, if not I'll just delete the submission and submit it again when we have a mod that lets stuff through more often. Even the meme I submitted with an imgflip template is taking forever today.

Good one Jying ! SOme of the Mods whoever they are are pissing me off when I see Crappy memes featured and mine sit in submitted for 3-5 hours and end up past page 9 ...

I guess it's just hard for me to understand why it seems like such a chore for a mod to simply look over original templates every hour or two and either release them or not if they are full of nudity or whatever it is they have to check them for. Especially when on some days they go through just fine in a decent amount of time and others they only seem to release originals once a day. Making it a huge amount of memes featuring at once and burying the majority of them.

I realize people get busy at times, or apparently there just aren't enough mods. It's just hard not to be frustrated when you spend a lot of time creating something original only to have it be thrown in the bottom of a pile and forgotten about. I'd gladly be a mod for free and not be allowed to release my own stuff out of fairness. I wouldn't care whose name was on it or what it was about, as long as it meets imgflips criteria bam I'd featured it. Maybe I just don't understand how hard it is and I'm misjudging people, mods are people just like us I'm sure there must be a good reason out there some were....

I agree, I notice several views on my submitted and every hour on top of the hour new memes get posted but some of mine dont. I see many memes that violate the rules get featured so something stinks. I've been Moderator, Super mod, Now im a Global Mod and Admin of a forum now so I know the ropes too.

I think there is an auto featuring program for popular/uploaded templates. They have already approved the picture so as long as the words you use don't trigger any of that programs negative criteria it goes through automatically. Most of my original memes get anywhere from 6 to 18 views before featuring, so somebody is looking at them and unless I share the link it has to be mods. My guess is only a few of them have final say about releasing a new template, otherwise some of the mods viewing them would have no reason not to release it. Now I understand why they want to view original templates first. Sure the words in the meme might be fine, but if somebody was to use pornography or something obscene in other ways. Then imglfip let it get featured on their website with their tag on the bottom of it. It would make their site look bad and this site tries very hard to remain family friendly.

So I can see their point on that stuff, it's not their fault that people would try to add the image of a p**is or whatever onto a meme so that they have to check them all for stuff like that. I'm sure if we saw some of the stuff people try to submit we would be thankful that it didn't make it through.

Another factor is of course how many memes are being submitted in day, if there is only one mod and he has a thousand memes to look at I understand how that could take some time as well. I think that might explain why certain days are better than others, either there are less memes submitted or more mods that day to check them.

However it can be very frustrating when you submit something early in the morning and it doesn't feature until late at night. We all like to get and reply to comments on our memes, and you only have so much time when something features to get enough, views, comments, and upvotes in order for it to move up the hot pages at all. I try to make myself delete them sometimes and try again but I hate doing that and it can hurt your featured percentage.

The only thing I can say for sure is that it happens to everybody equally and nobody gets special treatment. Sure it would be nice if we all got early release times and decent spots on the latest thread, but there are simply too many of us for that to be possible. I wish I knew more about how it all works, most of this is just educated guesses based on my time around here. As time goes by this site does make improvements and a little something here and there gets better as we meme along.

Some of the latest ones I made are just a animation generator at toolpic.com they are actually rather easy. But this one was me putting 53 images together all just a little different to make it look like movement and it was hard, took over 2 hours to put together. I've made a few like it in the past but never with this many images, they are rather time consuming so I get pissy if I get a poor feature time like this one did lol. Some can be rather simple, like just making an image move around a still pic a few times and saving each one. Then you upload them one after another on imgflips gif generator and it puts them all together for you. Or you can just cut a piece out of any video on youtube and do it that way which I've tried a few times. I just feel like I created more of it if I do it the hard way ;) Thanks for the comment bro am glad you liked the gif :)

So it's like making a cartoon then?
4 ups, 8y,

That's exactly how I think of it yeah, if you say find a good piece of clip art of a frog. You could move it all around a still picture and just right click on it and save it every time you move it. Then just load all those pics into the generator and it will make it look like the frog is jumping all over as the main picture stays still. That's a pretty basic example but I'm sure you get what I mean. You could do just about anything if you have the patience. One that I made had stupid cats dancing all around on a still stage, it was a while back but I was learning as I went lol. The more you experiment with it, the better ideas you'll have ;)

I did one abou a well going up an escalator that way. My patience wasn't in abundance and it turned out choppy, but I understand. GIFs like that dog waving his arms, same concept?
5 ups, 8y
If you are talking about the one Juicydeath posted those are beyond my capabilities. That involves editing pictures onto a moving video, like when somebody put Leonardo Dicaprios head on some dancing guy video after he won the oscar finally. I think you need a video editing program for that, at least I haven't found a website yet that will let you add pictures to a video. Now you could take a still pic of a dog and put his arms in different spots in picture after picture and make it look like he is waving or whatever. But when it comes to doing the same thing to a video I'm out of my league there.

Where I grew up in Cali was like 45 mins from the beach. At school we had seagulls that would swarm us at lunch time for scraps. They really are one of the best scavengers on the planet lol.

Haha I remember that well. Seagulls would swarm us during lunch break and scavenge for wrappers in the trash cans and I would hear them preaching during my class after lunch break.

LOL we had this huge field where the "socially unfit" had to eat lunch to get away from the the jocks and cheerleaders who ate under the roof they put over the tables outside. The stoners had a huge tree they hid under way out in the field though, dodging the bird poop was like a normal part of lunch for half the student body.

I grew up in a very diverse part of Cali where what you wore and such determined a lot more of who people thought you were than it should. Very judgmental kids to say the least.

No I was born in Santa Clara county, it was an interesting area, went to school with the kids of rich lawyers all the way to immigrant farm workers. The farm workers kids being the much easier to get along with and having a much higher moral compass ;) I never really fit into one group, I just had friends everywhere and wandered all over during lunch ;)
