Another reason we can trust the Bible is that there are close to 25,000 copies of the New Testament alone; some from the actual lifetime of the writers. It used to be that the oldest were within 25 years of the date written, (which is amazing), but now we even have Scripture from the same year it was written. Those copies are on pottery that was stored in Qumran. For some strange reason that extraordinary historical find doesn’t get on the History Channel. It gets no attention from secular media even though the Qumran caves of the Judaean Desert (West Bank of Israel) had Old and New Testament materials, again, some of the latter that are from the same year the original was written. That is absolutely phenomenal! The Bible is unquestionably reliable. Now let’s contrast the Bible with the writings of Aristotle and Plato that no one mocks the veracity of. The Bible has 25,000 copies, some from within the same year as the original, yet people feel free to question the authority and authenticity of Scripture while the earliest copies of Plato and Aristotle are 1200 and 1400 years removed, respectively, from the originals. And there are only 7 and 49 copies of those works on the whole planet. Even if our desert-island recluse was blind and deaf, so he could not see or hear God’s "Creation" (the first C of 3), Romans 2 talks about the second C, which is the light of "Conscience.” People inherently know it's wrong to murder. Where did that come from? If evolution were true, there would be no right and wrong, right? Of course over time people like Hitler can have their consciences become seared. Early on though, everyone knows it inherently wrong to kill and steal. Where did that come from? Since many have not seen God’s 10 Commandments, where did they get those same morals? That's the moral argument of existence, which says, logically, universal moral laws must come from a universal moral-law giver, i.e., God. There has to be a God. Creation and Conscience (2 C’s) testify that there is a God and those pull the rug from under skeptics. So our island guy has no excuse. The third "C" is “Christ,” and this one is for you! We addressed the hypothetical straw-man argument of the desert-island guy, mountaintop person, or those lost in isle 37 at Wal-Mart. But none of that matters if you’re reading this. We are all sinners and Christ died to save us from hell, if we just accept His free gift of salvation He supplied to us by dying for our sins on the cross. ![WHY DID GOD CREATE HELL?
Here’s what one guy says: Think for a moment of what the devil has done. If you could design a place to make him pay for what he's done in your life and the lives around you throughout all of human history, what kind of a place would you design for him?
Well, God has designed such a place. It's called hell. Hell was originally designed by God to make the devil pay for bringing evil and rebellion into His creation [Matthew 25:41.] It was a place where God's anger, His rage, and His wrath, would go uncut, unbridled, and uncensored. It was designed with the devil in mind; not for people. But hell does not discriminate between a person and a demon. It's like a wood chipper that you throw big logs and branches into. It grinds them up into a mulch. That's what hell is. It's God's divine wood chipper. Nobody cringes when they see a log roundup. But imagine if someone grabbed a log and as they threw it into the chipper, a piece of the limb grabbed their pants and started to pull them in. What would you do? Would you not grab them? Would you not pull on them? Would you not scream, 'Turn it off! Turn the machine off!' Why? It's because the chipper wasn't designed for grinding humans but the chipper doesn't care if it's a human or a log or a rock or a stone. It's designed to crush. And so it is with Hell. It doesn't care if it's a demon or a human. It's designed to crush and destroy and to heep pain and suffering and agony on rebellious angels, including Satan who dared to rebel against God. There is no escape. There's no turning back. They are doomed and so it is with anyone who has the audacity to rebell against God; human or devil. The skeptics question is this: "Do you mean to tell me God is going to send that poor guy to hell?!” You may know the answer if you’ve already seen our seminary-style study classes, Discipleship 101 & 102. It’s a disciple’s education for every Christian because Jesus' last words upon leaving earth were, "Go and make discipled learners of all nations.” Disciples can each save multitudes. Romans 1 and 2 answer our question and it’s called the "three C's.” First is the C in "Creation.” Having no Bible is no excuse. Romans 1 says none of us have an excuse because we had "the light of creation." Just step outside to see a bird, a flea, or a bee and that's intelligent design (just as your car is), which implies a Designer. The unfathomable complexity of the stars and planets show there is no stinking way this all happened by chance. All of creation drives us to know that there is a God. Romans 1 tells us this: "God's invisible attributes, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world.” God is seen and heard just by observing and hearing His creation.
